Memorial vase in bronze, by Mrs OFSO. It is hard to photograph plaque but inscription reads

Mike Preston
1953-2020
Et Prudentibus et Viator Impavida

Hope to see his widow next week and will give it to her then.....

Thank you all for suggestions as to the inscription...

We'd hoped to engrave the vase directly but jeweler could not get his machine into the restricted space...

I translate it as Intelligent and intrepid traveller, but it's nearly 60 years since I did my Latin 'A' level. :)

Excellent work and I totally agree with the previous comments. A very appropriate keepsake.

Met Mike for the first time at the Brooklands museum and visited a number of aviation heritage sites with him and we planned to visit Duxford together this year but sadly it was not to be...

Comment from Mrs OFSO: "I thought the piece encapsulated Mike: slightly dark outside but hidden gold inside. "

"I really appreciate your comments. Thank you all. "

I was looking at Mrs OFSO's sculpture and it reminds me of perlemoen or mother of pearl... highly prized and very valuable in SA.

Perlemoen

I am sure Mike would have liked that idea... and your work will be much appreciated by Carmen and Mark.

Shame I never met Mike., and a few 'moments' with him over the years, thought I'd really over stepped the mark once or twice....but we always patched things up....nice work Mrs OFSO.... :)
