Why is traffic driving on the left?
I think you'll find the yellow line is the "middle" of the road. It's two lanes one way, one the other. I went and had a peek on Google Street View.

I'm guessing that's where the original picture came from, given the car in view in front of the Google vehicle.

I think OM15 has the helm :x
I can’t remember where I found the picture, think OM15 knew the answer, so he can have the next ride.

While we are waiting for om15 have just discovered that the name of the N Korea amusement park is Mangyongdae and it is situated about 12 km from Pyongyang.

This is one from the sixties. It was taken by my now dec'd parents and separated from the carefully made up index which detailed date, location etc.

Therefore I cannot confirm or deny any posts regarding location. It sort of looks 'touristy' and therefore may be obvious to some here.

Is Ex-A on track? I also thought European but for some reason those two roof domes either side of the main columns look like samurai headgear - a trick of the camera?

I was thinking the flag was Japanese but can't really tell.

Wish I could be more helpful. They visited both Japan AND Vienna. I likely got spoiled in TOP when I ran a series of their photos and almost all of them were identified quite positively, as they were mostly on tourist tours and visiting spots that are well known. Thanks for the responses, and unless someone knows for sure where this is, we should have open house. Thanks again.

No I think European but have searched Vienna can't find it. Fin, did they go to Romania or that neck of the woods?

They went seemingly every where in Europe on American Express tours, which suited them perfectly at the time.

I thought those trees along the drive looked a bit odd for Europe! Just had a fruitless search of European palaces, country by country, as Google doesn't seem to recognise 'European' for a search.

4Ma is right in his assumption that it is the Akasaka Palace in Tokyo.

The flags are leading me to Boston, Massachusetts, but I can’t find an exact match yet :((

It isn't a hotel or restaurant, a shopping mall possibly, looks military-ish and maybe converted from a warehouse or industrial building with the big lum. The flag identification was brilliant, the young ladies in the foreground had me thinking of Italy so I was well off course. As it is set on a harbour I will think naval.
