Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
7 minutes 4m, quick off the mark. You are, of course correct it is "Oor Wullie" sitting on the wall outside the McManus Gallery in Albert Square, Dundee.
Your turn to choose the next comic.

Thank you. Regularly got fed the Oor Wullie stories in the Sunday Post whilst I was at Leuchars.
Quite a colourful character; where and what is it?

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
These were in Lincoln in 2017.
It's a Knight's Trail statue, commemorating the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Lincoln in 1217
Best guess from the background is that this one was in front of St Mark's Garden.
OH if correct.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
OK, how about this one?
Bonus point if you know what it was called before it got repurposed.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Newcastle Central has similar repurposed 'sheds' (Electric third-rail suburban trains ran to and from the coast from there) and there were 'sleepers' to Scotland and Roadrailers. Goods terminal too.

The former Bath Queen Square then later Green Park Station, top end of the Somerset and Dorset and bottom end of the London Midland. As a school boy I used to spot trains there.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
FD2 is correct. It is now the car park for the Bath Sainsbury's store. That was the place I accidentally discovered that if you wheel a supermarket trolley over the barrier sensor, it will dispense a ticket.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
I used to park there(!) having lived in Bath twice.
The little market used to be OK, and it was a convenient place to park for visits to the city centre if you were going to shop at Sainsburys also. I expect the parking Nazis have clamped down (probably literally) on that now.

Easy one if you think about it:

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Correct....I will not make you guess further, but it was the Intercontinental Resort next to Papeete Airport in Tahiti... stayed there the night before I picked up a Catamaran and sailed to Bora Bora for a week.
You have the helm so to speak....

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
That was a bit of luck, figured it was French because Paris was at the top of the totem pole and Tahiti is the only French possession I can think of. Bora Bora is on Mrs 1DC's bucket list.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Stopped over there once for a few days whilst on a RTW trip. Not the Intercon, because it was full. Apparently Julio Iglesias was doing a concert there. I'm a fan, but tickets were like gold dust, so I neither stayed there nor saw the concert. I stayed at that most Frech of hotels, Le Meridien. I was disappointed with Tahiti tbh.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
I stayed there the last night I was there after getting off the boat. I would not have been impressed staying in a hotel the whole time...same as every other hotel in the world but you see more skin.
The sailing over to Bora Bora and snorkeling there made up for it though. The people in the expensive huts on the water got a little miffed when we anchored next to them, (a fair distance away I might add).
The one thing that I was not happy about were the "snorkel charters" where the guides had fed sharks etc and gotten them to come to the boats...... I snorkeled outside the reef with the wild sharks..... Yes my picture...
