Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
You are right of course but why on earth is there a zoo there. Get into your car and drive into the bush.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
I agree about zoos.
I haven't stayed there, we used to stay in the Rosebank in Hilbrow?, but probably had a beer, or 3, there (after visiting the zoo?).
If I remember, the war museum was worth a visit.
JNB was a 24 hour nightstop before returning to Kampala or Nairobi in the VC10 days of BOAC.
OH if correct, busy preparing garden for a family gathering this weekend.

I saw a ways back that famous people had stayed there, from what I remember it was South Africa, but not sure on town.

Talma has it. Gorgeous hotel, but after a couple of nights in the Mount Nelson in Capetown, just a little letdown.

Correct, Elbow Reef is one of the last operational kerosene-fueled lighthouses in the world. This lighthouse was built in 1862 and became operational two years later, it is striped horizontally red and white. Its light can be seen from 23 nmi away. I was just there last last week sailing the catamaran on the right in the picture for a week....
s Smeagol, you have the helm....

But catching up, all I see is evidence that G-Man has surrendered or been stripped of his chopper licence and has become a full-time matelot / buccaneer
Which is a shame, as I was going to try and scrounge a flight with him when I'm in California in 2024

talmacapt is correct, it is Knightshayes Court, just outside Tiverton, Devon now a National Trust property but built and formerly owned by the Heathcote-Amory family who gained their fortune through textile , initially lace, manufacturing.
