Evening all.

Not sure if Magnus frequents this thread. If so, he would have recognised this as the Leith Port Authority building. The vessel whos bow is just visible is the Fingal unless it has been moved since I was last up there.

Back to OH.

Yes - well done Pugwash. Thought one of the Scots on here might spot that.

In earlier times - a WW1 destroyer in dry dock:

At first glance it looked like that destroyer was being rowed with a line of oars.

Out sweeps! Yes - it looks pretty flimsy doesn't it but I guess they knew what they were doing. They seem to use much larger baulks of wood these days.

No to France. Yes to the United States. A" "cottage" in one of the original 13 Colonies.

If it is considered a 'cottage', maybe Long Island?

Yes to Rhode Island, though the day we took the photos, we left from Long Island, and returned there afterwards, same day.

One of our more popular Presidents got married nearby.

It's hard to put a name to this place! It's included in 'The Mansions' of tour of Rhode Island but not when I looked at their website. It appears amongst the other 'cottages' but never seems to be named! I'll carry on checking when I return from town! It seems to be built in a French style but isn't 'Chateau sur Mer'.

Hey, close enough for me. It is Newport and there is a walkway along the edge of the Atlantic with one after another of these places. I think "The Breakers" was on a promontory and had ocean view in several directions. I think the 'cottage' term came from the Vanderbilts, in that era before the IRS was formed. Your turn.
