The Capetonian WOE Thread
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
NZ South Island, Wanaka?
The Austin Sheerline last had a road worthy check in 2017.

Been in data comm since we formed the bits individually with a Morse key.
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
I thought it was Queenstown. Photo from 1990.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Maybe it is Queenstown as Wanaka is only a guess!

Definitely Queenstown, just can’t get precise location, possibly Francton Road.
When all else fails, read the instructions.
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Queenstown is all I know. I also thought the vehicle was a classic RR.

Excellent for shark watching!
When all else fails, read the instructions.
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Culzean Castle, Ayrshire. Wartime retreat for Ike. Should be sightings of basking sharks in the Clyde and blond sharks may be active nearby!
OH please if correct Woody. I'd better get some more prepared!

Evening all.
Instantly recognisable to anyone who has spent time in Cornwall, the Jamaica Inn at Bolventor. The old A30 used to go right past it.

In that case a town scene:
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
The High Street, Wooler, Northumberland. On the right is the Black Bull Hotel, reputedly a 17th Century Inn - well rated by TripAdvisor (for whatever that really means). Haven't had the pleasure of trying personally.
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Well recognised emjay - you have control.
I just realised that's our former neighbour Steve's rusty old white Transit van parked on the left. He was the blacksmith, and had hands like plates of meat, as I found when we moved to the nearby village and I introduced myself. Feeling returned to my hand eventually.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
oops - try that again...
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
A challenging airstrip that surprising has intermittent commercial flights and a very dusty "Duty Free".
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Pulau Tioman?
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Yes - Tioman Island, Malaysia (WMBT). It's a "one-way" airstrip in that the only approach is via a tight right base to 20. There is a rock face as the overrun. You pass a critical palm tree on short, short final at about 150' - that's the decision point, any lower a typical club plane cannot outclimb/turn away from the fast approaching hill.
It keeps alive from the traffic from KL of keen golfers going to the resort on the south west flank of the island - there used to be a regular Dash 7 service that was down to an occasional charter earlier this year. And no, I don't understand how it has a Duty Free either.
Very fast FD2 - I guess my profile location was too much of a clue... You have control.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Thanks emjay. Yes your location was a clue and it had the look of the far east. I love the DP at the palm tree!
