No guesses, so time for a clue. I will be perfectly frank and tell you the church is in Italy.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
FD2 has it first time
As the earthquake which caused serious damage happened in 1997 and I took the photo in 2008, you are correct it is post earthquake.
Over to you.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
I think that is Blickling Hall in Norfolk (just over 20 miles from where I am sitting).

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
That was quick. Back to you Smeagol.
I thought the less usual view might slow it down a bit! That alone makes the trip to Aylsham worth while, plus lunch at the Buckinghamshire Arms which our son assures us he found to be haunted when he worked there! Several of the Boleyn family are buried in the church. Alternatively up to Cromer for a crab lunch.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
I can certainly recommend the Blackboys Hotel in nearby Aylsham, though the name will change soon to satisfy the woke generation.
Think I will declare OH and let someone else have a go.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Well, it has been 4 days and no-one has taken up the reins so to avoid falling off the first page I will put this up. Should be easy to any viewers of recent days television.

Well, I know it's not the Commie in Leuchars village so I'll have to keep looking.

Is this Inveraray Castle, where Margaret Campbell, 'that woman' lived some of the time with her husband Ian?

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Absolutely correct FD2. The whole story, at least from the programme makers perspective, has been on mainstream UK television over Christmas. It seems that the 'headless man' being 'attended to' by the Duchess in the photograph that caused a sensation in the 1963 trial was Douglas Fairbanks Jr. Seems a lot of other celebs of the time were party to her favours as well!
All yours FD2.

Thanks Smeagol. Changed times.
This is somewhere in the south of England. A well lit spot.

One for ONSO:
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
We are reminiscing about a feature which could put us on a track for 'runway' 21. Very helpful at night!
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
I really shouldn't keep this running any more - it's Warmwell Roundabout in Dorset. It stands out at night as it is/was so brightly lit and is almost directly on the extended centreline of the little runway at Portland. Very local knowledge from the air required so unlikely to be found from the shots on the ground, as no one is likely to operate a fast jet or anything other than a microlight or helicopter into Portland!
OH declared therefore.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
That's a photo of the idiots who didn't read the tide tables for the crossing to Lindisfarne (Holy Island).
Tip: if you're ever going to do that crossing safely it's best if you start to cross either 30 minutes after the first crossing time or 30 minutes before the latest crossing time. That way, it stops your embarrassment appearing in the local press.
