I have made a mistake, I thought that this would have gone fairly quickly as I thought it was the Glen Moriston Hotel in Invermoriston by Loch Ness.

I am not sure where it is but it was taken in May 2015, probably on the 14th.

We were having a few days in the Western Isles and stayed in Arran, Crinan and Strachur before finishing the journey in The Marine at Troon (reunion do).

From Crinnan we went via Lochgilphead, Inverary and the A815 to Strachur.

The next day by ferry across to the mainland, probably near Dunoon.

It looks like a hotel but I cannot remember which or why I took the photo or where it is.

If any of you know, I will buy you a beer next time we meet in Karachi (a BOAC chap will smile).

It just doesn't look Scottish to me. Did your trip include any time in the north of England? Is the frontage Tudor or mock Tudor?

Following the clues given - The Royal Marine Hotel in Dunoon has rooms available at £47 with breakfast. A good deal methinks!

For that price, one suspects the plumbing has not been updated since Tudor times. ;)))

Thanks for that C16.

I thought either you, FD, or Woody, there may be others, would know where, and what, it was/is.

To answer FD, no, we flew to GLA and hired a car, so it is definitely in Scotland.

We did not stay there!!

I will try to do better in the future.

OH declared.

I went ashore there in 1966 but couldn't have afforded a drink there on cadet's pay! I should have followed the brief like C16.

Now for somewhere far away from Dunoon.

,,,,,,,,,,,buy you a beer next time we meet in Karachi (a BOAC chap will smile).
Not Karachi, where beer was available in the BOAC Resthouse, but no meat on Fridays, but Bombay, where one could declare oneself an alcoholic and purchase a liqour licence to be presented to the Customs Hofficer in the hotel for the daily allowance. Crews often "delegated" someone to declare themselves alcoholic (alcoholic aircrew ? ) and obtain the necessary allowance to share amongst themselves, not much but better than nothing. Arriving one day the departing Captain gave us his crew's liquor licence, and told us that they hadn't consumed it all - surprise, surprise - and it would save us going through the rigmarole of applying for another one. The assigned alcoholic duly presented it to the Customs Hofficer to claim that day's allowance, and was told .... " Funny that, Capt. Xxxxx left for London this morning so this certificate is cancelled, now, if you want beer, just pay me an extra Rs 5 per bottle and you can have as many as you want." QED.

Sure looks like an Ancient Greek hilltop fortress, top right.
Somewhere on the Peloponnesian peninsula, maybe, or perhaps Crete.
Could also be Lydia, now the east coast of Turkey.
