Not a time ball tower but at a stretch I suppose it could be said to be distantly related.

Wotabaht a shot tower where molten lead is dropped into water so that is is spherical, but where it is, I don't have the faintest idea.

Interesting but unfortunately incorrect suggestion Rossian.

The tower is now unique and is the only survivor of a number of similar towers built just over two hundred years ago by the military as part of the response to a probably genuine threat from another country. It has been described as once being a cutting-edge building at the forefront of technology.

Is this Chatley Heath Semaphore Tower, built as part of a chain to allow a rapid alert to London of Napoleon's fleet arriving off the South Coast?
OH if correct

Reminds me of Honfleur or somwhere nearby.

I'll go for western seaboard France, Brittany, Cherbourg area.

talmacapt is correct, it is Tavira, one of the less commercialised towns in Portugal.
