I must confess that I've answered one or two in the past where the 'setter' has left an unspotted clue somewhere on the photo.

In this case I did it 'honestly' by Googling the clues, Guv.

The Chequers it was. The other clue if you couldn't decipher the roadsign pixels is the pump in the foreground - one of four in the village installed following a 19th century outbreak of cholera. Yes, just up the road from Duxford - a nice gesture from the Imperial War Museum is free entry for residents on non-show days in recognition of the occasional low flying disruption overhead.

Although obviously in a very rural area this house and church are located in what was a coal producing area, between the wars there were at least three significant mines within a mile of here. The last mines in the coalfield ceased production around 50 years ago. Not particularly relevant I know but my father in law who lived not too far away worked underground hewing coal for 45 years or so. Mother in law worked in service at this house in the 1920's, together with other family members they are both buried in the graveyard attached to this church not visible to the right of this pic.

There also used to be a typical branch railway line with a station just over half a mile away from where you could travel to a city. With one change you could also get to London without too much difficulty. Never greatly patronised the line inevitably closed to passengers just before the Beeching era although it remained open for coal and stone traffic from local quarries for a while. One end of the line is still in use regularly carrying heavy stone trains to the main line and beyond.

In the late 18th C an attempt was made to dig a canal to carry coal and cloth from the area with the aim of eventually reaching a a sea port. Much engineering work was required which swallowed all the capital raised and the project was abandoned in the early 1800's without ever opening. The canal ran about a mile away from here, and some related structures can easily be found to this day.

The house was built in the early 18th C, probably on the site of an earlier building. The church was commissioned by the family who owned the house and dates from about 50 years later. The location is now a somewhat upmarket private members club and hotel aimed at media types and you have to be a member to stay here. Many 'celebs' have been seen here, some of them using the venue to get married (Right Here, Right Now).

I initially thought of the north-east for this, until canals were mentioned. are we looking at The Potteries area?

My initial guess would be a little further east, Derby/Notts border?

You're both too far North. Using motorways it's very approximately a two and half hour drive from both your suggestions.

Gaah! I recognised the stone colour straight away, but had completely forgotten about the coalfields, so ruled the area out.
I used to live and work only a few miles away. Twice, actually.
As soon as you pointed me down south I remembered the quarries and rail line around Nunney Catch as well.

Indeed it is F3. I used to take my grandson there when he was quite young, but I'm not sure he really appreciated it!
