Hypocracy at its best

#1 Post by Seenenough » Tue Jul 28, 2020 12:53 am

"TOM HANKSPublished 8 hours ago
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson celebrate becoming Greek citizens
'@ritawilson @tomhanks are now proud Greek citizens!' the prime minister wrote.

Greece offered citizenship to Hanks, 64, Wilson, 63, and their two children, in recognition of the family’s help in raising funds for the victims of a deadly wildfire near Athens in 2018.

Wilson, an actress and producer, has Greek and Bulgarian ancestry and was raised Greek Orthodox. Hanks converted to Greek Orthodoxy when he married Wilson. And the couple frequently vacations on the Greek island Antiparos, where they have a home"

What a cheap patriot.

The US gave him the opportunity for what he is today and the cheap part is, buy land and become a citizen.

I see no hypocrisy (where is chuks when you need him) here!

Has Mr Hanks revoked or rejected his US citizenship? No he hasn't. Did he set the Stars and Stripes on fire and then urinate on it to put it out chanting "I hate America"! No he didn't!

The couple have been granted honorary citizenship for their good work in Greece! If I was an American citizen I would be proud of them for their honourable work as US citizens cementing good relations in the world!

As a dual South African British citizen I feel proud of them.

Now we come on to you. Have you revoked your South African citizenship in your pursuit of your American citizenship? Have you turned your back on the country that nurtured and suckled you? The country that gave you the chance to better yourself only for you to turn your back on it in such a wilful way! If so, ag sies tog jy veraaier! :))

Seenenough I initially wondered if you meant hiphopcracy...
The ability to call members of one's own race derogatory terms and be free from scorn or any negative connotation.
The lyrics to the song "Where my Niggas at?" by Cassedy, is an example of publicly accepted hiphopcrisy.
Mr Cassedy is a terrible hiphopocrat! =))

Nigger, this and nigger that and not a black Labrador in sight.

We used to sing Sarie Marais every Sunday evening before dinner in the residential hotel I stayed at in Germiston. Mind you it was full of krunchies. Used to know all of the words. Most probably the Transvaal has also gone now.

O bring my trug na die ou Transvaal,
|: Daar waar my Sarie woon.
Daar onder in die mielies
By die groen doringboom,
Daar woon my Sarie Marais. :|

You are an honorary Saffer Alisoncc...

Leila Kinnunen is Finnish. Utterly beautiful version of that song.

Gob,I will always remain a South African if the SA Government will permit me to hold dual citizenship. If not then I will have a hard call to make when the time comes.

PS I always was a Transvaal Rugby and Cricket supporter.

Hope to hell none of the woke generation find out Jim Reeves did an album in Afrikaans. His star in Nashville would be torn up and cast into the sea. :D

Gob ,it was hard being a Transvaal supporter because most of my buddies and golf crowd were hard line Blou Bulle and back in those days the Currie Cup was a big deal as South Africa did not play all that often. There was no such thing as the Super 12.

Jim Reeves was a great fan of South Africa and South Africans of his music, as you know ian16th. I think he appeared in a locally made film as well.

Sadly Reeves was killed in a light aircraft crash... good synopsis of that accident here...

I was born in Pretoria Seenenough, so in theory should have favoured die Blou Bulle (or Northern Transvaal) but ever the contrarian I favoured Transvaal even when my family ended up in the Cape.

Kimberley Jim that's the one...

I hadn't realised that Nico Carstens co-wrote that song!
