https://census.gov.uk/about-the-census/ ... n-a-census
Everyone in England and Wales must complete a census or be included on a census for the place where they’re living or staying.

You must complete the census by law

Every householder at an address is responsible for completing a census questionnaire for their household. The householder should either answer the individual questions for all household members or make sure each member answers their own.

More than we care to think or believe, I imagine!

I'm sure in this day and age there will be a number of questions about sexual orientation, ethnicity etc., so I might have a bit of fun with that. Serves them right for having it on the media every five minutes and now I'm getting leaflets through the door. How much money is being wasted on that alone?

Mrs Ex-A, don't be so sure. We enumerated for 2000 and 2010. As a former district nurse Mrs PN knew her district. One house we went to was an old railway crossing keepers cottage. Technically it waz in the next district. In practical terms it was accessible only from deep in our District. They had never been troubled before.
Another was a caravan tucked away behind a hedge in a remote field. He asked how we had found him
My wife said she had dressed his arm when it had been sceptic.
Then there are all the illegals some of whom will be flushed out. Difficult are the ones under railway bridges etc.

Do you think that the illegal immigrants living 10 to a room in Bradford, Wolverhampton or wherever are going to answer honestly?

I filled in the last one using a Sharpie. I coloured in some of the gaps on the barcodes too. I seem to remember it was in protest at them using an overseas company for processing the forms using an automated reader, so I reckoned filling it in in such a way that it would have to be manually processed was a legal way of protesting.

Some questions might be considered impertinent. An Irish census asked if the spoke English and could read and write.

We might not think twice about ticking the ethnicity survey with white or white British N Ireland. It is starting to irk me that my ethnicity should really be white mixed.

Imagine if our EU Census had asked for a precise ethnic breakdown. What if a person generally considered as black had, unknown to them, a white grandparent, are they mixed race?

There is a number of pretty presenters on TV, perfect English with long black hair, a light tanned complexion and brown eyes. Aryian or just tanned?

So, like BM, I am English/Irish and properly British, not least as Ireland was British when my mother and grandfather were born.

Not easy is it.

Is my passport wrong describing me as British when we have sports competitions such as the 4 nations?

I love it Llondel! :))

We actually have a census coming up also...I applied for a position as a field manager. How hard can that be?..Apparently I need to complete 2 online game tests by Monday, as just the start of the process. 'Cognify' & 'Emotify', no wrong answers apparently...what a load of BS! :))

Apparently, Scotland hasn't prepared for a 2021 census 'due to Covid'.

Filled the census, at a risk of £1000 fine I could identify as one of many nationalities and ethnicities as genders. The form is an on line tick box and easy to do even if not computer literate, except for one little thing. You need a computer.

I suppose when it asks if you have an NVQ or GCSE it supposes you know what they are talking about. As a trained Navigator with many subsequent training courses, do I have any professional qualifications? I don't know so I said no.

No fun doing an on-line form with a Sharpie, makes a mess of the monitor. I'd write and ask them for a paper copy.

Thankyou. That explains why this household hasn't received the usual A4 package.

Not sure if you folks north of the border have a different regime but I received the information letter regarding the 2021 census today. It gives an access number for use when one completes the census on line (as indicated by PN). If one requires or wants a paper copy one must request it, which may explain the lack of an A4 envelope.

Must admit I thought this was a UK census, which will include Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland shirley?

Apparently, the Scots failed to organise the Census 2021 'due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic'.

Presumably that means that the information when analysed will not be directly comparable with previous censuses as it will be missing a sizeable chunk of date.

This demonstrates the organisational abilities of the Pygmy Parliament led by the Poison Dwarf. And they think they could handle independence.

The census is compulsory for anyone who is in the country at one minute past midnight on the Sunday of the census date.

Methinks this household will on a weekend break in Ingerland on that date next year.
