Irritating phrases, Americanisms and other mangling of English as she is spoken...

#1 Post by TheGreenGoblin » Sat Jun 05, 2021 10:57 am

Reached out as in "So and so has reached out to Emirates for comment on the latest reduction to its 777X order, but the airline has not yet been able to respond".

What happened to the simple, efficient, and accurate, contacted! ~X(

Perhaps Boeing aren't going to, or don't want to respond, to your presumptuous "reaching out" supplication! If anybody uses the phrase "reached out", I immediately reach for my ***** Luger!

Aircrafts as opposed to aircraft! ~X( ~X( ~X(

I could go on... =))

Suffixing a sentence spoken in the present tense with "at this time".

Suffixing a sentence spoken in the future tense with " going forward".

The total overuse of the word 'awesome' to describe something which is, in most cases, fairly normal. Maybe it's a clickbait word?

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Why, what's it to do with you?

Thankfully Mrs PN has stopped that.
