Apparently there are people who identify as the Khasi.

Ah the the Khasi of Kalabar!

Once again I make an arse of myself by posting a video!

One of my favourite films, enlivened by double entendres, sayings, euphemisms, dysphemisms, malapropisms etc. and starring my favourite South African export to Britain, namely Sid James.

I was told by a book publisher some years ago that books coming from the other side of the Atlantic are published at 'face value' ie, they do not change the spellings. However, books written in proper English which find their way across the pond are 're-translated, ie, the 'u' is removed from humour, colour etc., and the 's' is replaced by 'z' in realise, criticise etc. Thus, larger books published in the US can often be several pages shorter than their UK versions.
It got me to thinking that '50 Shades of Grey' must have confused the hell out of them initially!

It makes you wonder if the 'translation' is done manually or by a software program (sic).

I challenged my daughters, in order to promote reading, that I would read the Harry Potter series if they would do the same.
It was very enlightening to read the books with a mix of "British" vs. "American" editions. :-?
Helps me understand some of the things posted here. :))

Bathroom, toilet, little boys' room, powder room, loo, lavatory, but one that may well not have gone across the pond, Crapper after our very own Thomas C.

And one bound to cause confusion, Ladies' Room.

"Folically challenged" is a euphemism I've always enjoyed

I've only created 2 of my own; after 4 months of the first lockdown when people were cutting their own / partner's hair, I referred to the chair of one quite heavy financial services webinar as "Tonsorially avant-garde"

The bloke I thought was talking out of his ring I described as being "an island short of an archipelago"

'Pissing like a racehorse'
'**** through the eye of a needle'. (the shits).
'Arse like the start of Bonanza' (after a decent curry).

I'm not overweight, I'm undertall, if I were six inches taller I would be at my ideal weight.
