Think I've already mentioned (?) I recently gave a talk to our local U3A group ( Old Farts trying to keep their brains working ) entitled "Navigation before GPS " and of course tried to explain Astro. Went over O.K. tho' it’s some 50 years since I last indulged, and got some nods of remembrance from those with some sailing experience.

Recently a young Aero Club student said "what's a sextant ?"

We had a couple of really interesting lecturers for spherical trig (if they can make it interesting they must be good), and it wasn't unusual for some of use to be there with them half an hour after the lecture had ended, drawing chalk lines on motor cycle helmets as we drew on their wisdom.
