Thank you for all the messages of sympathy. She just fell asleep and didn't wake up - way to go! No stressful ferry trips to/from the vet.

Sorry to hear it, Ricardian.
Presently minding a neighbour's dog for the day. He's an elderly golden retriever who was a friend of my late dog. They loved to visit each other.

"Amicitia vera, rara avis in terra!" - True friendship, a rare bird upon the earth.

With feckless friends like these who needs enemies...
Police in Rome have rescued a man from a collapsed tunnel near the Vatican - and believe he may have been digging it to try and rob a bank.

The man is now in hospital but has been arrested, as well as a second suspect, for damage to public property. He was rescued after apparently begging for help.

Firefighters took several hours to free him.

Police believe the pair may have been part of a gang preparing to rob one of two nearby banks, reported Rai News.

It is believed three other people fled the six-metre (20 feet) tunnel before it collapsed. Police are still making investigations, according to media reports.

Condolences Ricardian.

I've just fed both animals that frequent this house.

It's already 26c with a layer of thin cloud in places making it extremely humid.

Good Moaning All,

30c 53%, guess for 36c (maybe later)
Started grey, quite cloudy, but that has burnt away to a residual grey/blue.

Quite an active electrical storm passed by inland around midnight did nothing to disperse the haze.
No chance of Persids could not even see the plough last night. (Big Dipper for the colonies)

Just been round to Chinese to order tonight's meal for delivery.

It is 36c out there and so humid. That's it apart from Ed walks for today.

Afternoon folks. A cracking day. Been to the safari camp no other people there. I think someone here (GG?) posted a clip from It 'aint half hot mum. Haven't seen it for years so downloading it. Brilliant.
The series has been accused of racism, homophobia and a pro-imperialist attitude. One specific criticism has been the casting of a white actor, Michael Bates, as an Indian character, with darkening makeup.
