"Let them eat cake!" - Marie A (supposedly).
"Live and Let Cake" - Film based upon a recipe by Ian F.
"Cake it while you Fake it" - Motto of those who pretend to listen to the twitterati, while eating cake.
"Let's cake" - Musicians cry akin to "Let's Rock", not necessarily rock cake though, attributed to the band Martha and the Muffins.

For a number of years now, my hairdresser has been a Polish 'girl'.
When she first arrived her English was all but non-existent - but she knew how to cut hair and I never questioned her technique - with the result that even today I refuse to look in her hand-held mirror (as I know that it will be right).
She is now married with children at primary school.
I always tip her generously as I know that it was a financial struggle for her (and I am always overdue for a haircut when I eventually give in).
If I went more frequently I would be paying more anyway, so I reckon she might as well benefit.
We never discuss 'how I want my hair to look' as she automatically does it right.
I have never had anyone else cut my hair since I discovered her even though she doesn't work full time - I will wait until she is on duty.

OAT on the WX machine refuses to go below 50o F even though the patio thermometer reads mid thirties and the rooftop heat pump OAT indicates 34o F.

From a period when Eddie Izzard was really funny, even while parading around in a dress. Now she just looks funny.Fox3WheresMyBanana wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 4:36 pm"Cake or Death!?"

Saw him do that sketch live in Cardiff and nearly choked to death with laughter.
I think I am going to self identify as Michaela Well'ard, the resident fruitcake and hard nut to crack!

Has she told you that she no longer works at Woolworths?TheGreenAnger wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 3:45 pmOne of the pleasures of working from home is that one gets to spend far more time talking to one's beloved. This afternoon I have discovered she now wants to live in Powys which has come as a bit of a shock to me! Why Powys when it was the Blackwater last week? Where will it be next week? I shall keep on grinning, talking and find out I guess.

One of the best things about fast jets was that you had the guaranteed fastest way out of Powys.
Or Gwynedd, for that matter.
Today is historical the coldest of the year here. It's just been raining for 7 hours and I am looking at grass out my window. And mostly green grass at that.
Still, La Nina won't last forever, and I expect it will be back to glaciers and Woolly Mammoths this time next year.

Enjoy!
Well into minus figures here a few miles inland, although not on the mountain. We are promised a warming by Tuesday when temperatures will climb back up to average. Meanwhile, we freeze....

Good Moaning All,
Is Friday
Just double figures 10c from a low of 6c, blue.
Seaweed 16c as yesterday when 11c was the high here, living at 394m helps.
Man cometh 1700 to fix the en-suite heated towel rail, the excitement of the day.
English so there will probably be an excuse.
Contrary to further North I find little trouble with the Spanish tradesperson.

Up here, Spanish can't be bothered to work. Easier to sit at home and collect welfare. Currently doctors and nurses on strike, schools on strike and closed, taxi drivers on strike.

He will of course be the subject of much interest, but not necessarily from his pupils. Best he pays regular visits to whichever embassy he feels most comfortable with, and updates them on what he is doing. I trust he will be paid in foreign currency. The worst thing about Moscow these days, (apart from the obvious) is the traffic. It makes the M25 look like Silverstone. I hope he is a tenacious sort of chap, for his sake.TheGreenAnger wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 3:53 pmJust been informed by an old friend, he is both a UK and South African passport holder, that he has just landed a geography post at the British International School in Moscow. He was previously teaching Air Force pilots in Saudi Arabia, both English and mathematics. I must admit that while I understand his need for a job, I, personally, would be morally constrained (among other reasons) from teaching or doing anything in Russia that might be construed as supporting, or giving moral support, even indirectly, to the regime there but respect his right to do what he wants. Different strokes for different folks I guess!

Afternoon folks. Nice day. 32C. Clear sky. I do not know how I would have time to do a proper job. I have been busy all morning with trivia. Spent ages on the phone to Luxembourg trying to sort out our access to the bank account. Still not sorted. Nice sounding girlie though. Still not sorted out flight for our safari end of March. They are not getting my e-mails. CCTV chap was supposed to come again today, not answering his phone. And, so it goes on.

See that one of eight dogs being walked by a 28 year old dog walker in Surrey when she was attacked and killed by them was a Leonberger. Two of the others were Dachshunds.
