Currently 22C, 30C max is forecast. Clear blue sky. I'll head off for my walk before it heats up.
Workshop day yesterday, trial fitted the hinges and locks to the box. Will start oiling it and preparing the lining today.

A warm day, 29°C now and rising.
A long weekend here (Waitangi Day on Monday) and holiday traffic beginning to build on the main highway.
High summer: cicadas raucously singing and snapping their wings in the trees; roses, lilies, dahlias, orange Canna lilies, and blue or white agapathus in flower everywhere,
Had a filling done at the dentist's smorning, sensation beginning to return as local anesthetic wear orf.
Having a restorative cordial.
And with the morn, those angel faces smile...

Love the sound of them: YouTube: Cicada sound and video close up in New Zealand - 30sec. clip.

34°C now.
And with the morn, those angel faces smile...

Van now has a rooftop air conditioning unit fitted. It needs 110V AC to run it, so there's an external power socket fitted for that to be supplied, either from local mains, if available, or I can hook up a generator to do the job. Could be useful later in the year when parked up at some of the dog shows where it can get up to 100F outside. I managed last year by running the engine occasionally and using that to cool things, after which it would take an hour to warm up again thanks to the insulation I fitted.

Sounds a good piece of work.

13° up here on the mountain and 4° down below this morning. Obviously no wind to stir things up.

Off to take the 20 year old Fiesta for its annual government inspection today. Mr Ford said yesterday nothing wrong.

Hodad at 07:00 hrs!

#11648 Post by TheGreenAnger » Fri Feb 03, 2023 7:01 am

Woke up, logged in and was assailed by this advert for Mr Zogg's Sex Wax, originally used by surfers like my late lamented brother Justin to rub onto his surf board to ensure better grip for his feet. Now clearly a scented balm for heaven knows what part of one's anatomy! How one earth did the infernal advertising algorithm choose to target me for this advert? After all I am a well known hodad who smells as sweet as any normal sweaty sock in the morning before he has bathed and shaved!
hodad (plural hodads) (surfing, slang, derogatory) Someone who comes to the beach and has a surfboard, but never surfs, or that surfs poorly and annoys the local seasoned surfers.

Other than been assailed by Mr Sex Wax's adverts for dubious tropical aromas the only news I have is that it is a sizzling 8 degrees on the beach here with 3 octas high cloud over the LAM, and currently all the 9's locally.
My necessaries are embark'd: farewell. Adieu! I have too grieved a heart to take a tedious leave.

It's Friday

13c from 8c overnight. Cloudless and quite clear. Heavy Dew.

SM to the Horsepitil for a long awaited visit to Traumatology for attention to her painful hands.
We hope for Cortisone injections.

House is protected by two differential breakers - don't ask, there is a hard trip on one.
Just contacting an electrician now.

Doubtless one breaker is a standard, the other an earth leakage breaker. Wretched things. Sums up cumulative tiny leaks and pops. At one time dead woodlice in the jointing boxes were suspect.

A form of mental illness manifesting in self harm through cosmetic surgery! How dreadful for us, and for her, poor misguided woman!

As they say in Afrikaans, "Sy is nie onder ’n kalkoen uitgebroei nie!!"

Literal translation - "She wasn't born of a turkey!"

Meaning - "she's very sharp..." ;)))
