Good morning, 1°C now, must be very close to a frost on the lawn.
Sky clear, Jupiter visible in the north-east. Supposed to be sunny, expecting 14°C.
Heard the usual regional aircraft chugging by earlier. Can set one's watch by them most days.
Have to wait in for the Heat Pump Man who promised to return with something that "came apart in his hand" yesterday when he had it to bits for its service.

Jimmy Buffett hospitalized, postpones show

https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/19/entertai ... index.html

A Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer Band concert scheduled to be held in Charleston, South Carolina this weekend, has been postponed due to the singer being hospitalized.

Buffett announced the news in posts on both his site and on social media.

“Two days ago, I was just back from a trip to the Bahamas, thawing out from the California ‘winter tour,’ and chomping at the bit to get to Charleston,” his note reads. “I had to stop in Boston for a check-up but wound up back in the hospital to address some issues that needed immediate attention.”

Buffett added, “Growing old is not for sissies, I promise you.”

The 76-year-old did not share exactly what is ailing him, but promised to perform his postponed concert as soon as he is able.

“Thank you for your prayers and thoughts, your amazing years of loyalty, and just remember, ‘NOT YET!’” his note ended.

Ticket holders will receive emailed information regarding the rescheduled date.

He thanked his followers for the “outpouring of support and well wishes,” and shared that he’d be going on a “fishing trip with old friends, along with paddling and sailing and get myself back in good shape” upon his return home from the hospital.

Buffett added that once he’s back in shape, the Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer Band would “look at the whens and wheres of shows,” adding that he feels playing music “is as therapeutic for me as it is for fans to listen and sing along.”

Sunny blue dome day, 15°C now.
Lawn Man came and mowed, which may be the last for a while if the frosts begin, and surveyed the driveway with an eye to dealing with the moss and lichen etc on the surface - next week, I hope.
Heat Pump Man hasn't been; it works without it, just there's a gap there.

Just enough dawn light here now to see that we have some broken cloud at about 500 feet and a big bank of mist rising over the Cripsey Brook. It is going to be a sunny day once the fog burns off.

Woke at 2:30am today, feeling decidedly "odd" and sweating. Got out of bed and groggily made my way to the bathroom (not far, fortunately) and checked blood glucose level - down to 3.2! Quick meal of Weetabix, milk, yoghurt & sugar plus cuppa with sugar instead of sweetener. Finished off with slice of bread & butter with strawberry jam. Back to bed feeling exhausted and slept soundly until gone 9am.
So glad that I am what my diabetes nurse describes as 'hypo' aware.

Just managed to free a seized front wheel spindle from my lawn tractor. They are known for it.
Every bash of the sledgehammer shifted it a thousandth of an inch.
I know that because it took a thousand bashes to move it the first inch!

Walked from Teddington to Kingston and back today,
along the Thames, with side diversions 12kms. Tonight my hips feel as if they need Fox3's sledgehammer: seized up.
However the walk was a delight for the senses: the freshwater Thames, honeysuckle in bloom, and Heathrow departures overhead.

OFSO, that sounds like a delightful walk.

Happy birthday anniversary, Queen Victoria.

Sun's out, some high cloud, min. today was 7°C, max. 13°C.

Had the Gardening Fairy plant a dozen or so Amaryllis belladonna which will flower next summer if they don't sulk.

Morning folks.

Still suffering from nerve/ligament problems in knee.

Weather forecasters have failed again this morning. It's according to them a clear blue sky and sunny. Its actually mainly cloudy and not that warm. Wanted posters on lamp posts for SUN.

Good Moaning,

16c Tea leaves 21c, broken, more overnight rain 3.8mm, 5cm for the month.
The Tea leaves have it continuing for the next few days.

Good day in prospect, a latish lunch then off to Pablo's Palace to rid ourselves of guest.
10 days might have been the financial best but it's too bloody long.

Morning folks another nice day. Heading for 32C. Leopard tracks at the back of the safari camp over the weekend. The girls were panicking about walking home in the dark. Told them that they would be fine. They were, well mostly. Hippos have disappeared again. They may be at the safari camp (bar?). Mongoose droppings by my chair this morning. The bats are very skittish think one of our 4 pythons may be near to the veranda. It's like living in a zoo. Especially with 'erbert around. Told him a hundred times to put a nozzle over the end of the hosepipe when watering by hand. He is out there blasting plants out of the ground again. I give up. Off to the pub.

A beautiful day here. Earlier one woke to the sound of cooing doves, the soft whisper of my beloved's breath, and the oaths and crude repartee of the council bin men who arrived unconscionably early only to leave our bins in a ragged and disordered conflab with those of our neighbour!

I have just opened my diary and note that one of my colleagues in our little enterprise, a religious type, is off for a week in June to visit to the so-called "Holy Land", i.e. the desiccated territory inhabited by sundry malevolent Yehudis, arrogant Israelites, flea bitten camels and surly Arabs. I note that he has chosen to be away for part of the time that I plan to be away in the Lake District, thus leaving our only other colleague, who will just be back, after recovering from her abdominal surgery, minding the shop, and thus carrying the can, for us slackers. Sub-optimal and piss poor planning by all save our poor ill colleague, that has all the hall marks of a bad approach leading to a bad landing. Oh well, to quote the inimitable Alfred E Neuman, "What, me worry!"... =))

Later today I am inclined to continue reading about Arthur Harris, having been pointed in the direction of a superb biography by Mrs Ex-Ascot. Once finished I shall jump straight into reading this...

I knew a Kathy Sholto Douglas back in the day! Not the Ms Campbell noted as the author of the book highlighted in the link though, methinks!

Beautiful day hereabouts so decided to do a bit of weeding in the garden. Spent best part of four hours on me knees pulling weeds and getting molested by farsands of ants. Green bin is full
and I'm kernadgered.

Extra large mug of tea awaits.

Memo to self: get the weeds when they are just showing through and don't let the buggahs grow so much.
It's always my fault - SWMBO
