Bad night last night - woke up at 0200 and couldn't get back to sleep. Now feeling very tired.

Weather continues as for the past week - currently 12c, forecast max 18c.

Caught up with an old colleague/mate yesterday. He'd come up from the bush for a minor procedure at hospital and planned to get a cab to the train station to go home. However, hospital's policy was that he had to be collected by a friend or relative, so he rang me as I was the only person I knew who lived relatively close. I'd had the same issue at the same hospital some years ago, even though I only lived 20 minutes away, and had to ring my next door neighbour as Mrs. H was away.

I assume it's because they don't want to have distracted staff on duty in the aftermath of an incident when someone's been taken out on a stretcher. Although I don't know the exact criteria, because I remember a previous incident where someone collapsed but woke up shortly afterwards, paramedics turned up and checked him over and he declined a trip to the hospital and they didn't close the pool. Perhaps it's "someone removed by paramedics" that's the defining factor, or they changed it post-pandemic.

Seems to make sense, as it also precludes rubber neckers, grief ghouls, ambulance chasers, low grade journalists, post trauma litigants and all the other post incident detritus that can make life difficult while not adding an iota of value to anybody involved.

Received speedy and generous compensation from British Airways for our cancelled flights on Sunday. Someone somewhere has realised how to keep regular customers faithful. Well, it works, and we are.

When he was tying it down on the trailer he must have remembered to Make Conversation with the Client, and offered "she's <bleeping> cold tonight" as his best effort. I was trying not to laugh so didn't really pick up the opening.

Sometimes it is just better to keep the gob shut. At least then the bloke might not betray his dearth of conversational, intellectual and whatever other abilities, with the minor ameliorating possibility that the beholder, a young lady in this case, might assume he is the "strong silent type!" :)

While I am just a grumpy middle aged male codger, my window cleaner feels it necessary to engage in conversation with me, despite the fact that he is a hapless right wing loon who accepts every known, and sometimes unknown, conspiracy theory du jour and repeats it uncritically, all done with the gravitas of a Professor of Drivel at the University of Crapulent condescending to illuminate a great life truth to some neophyte undergraduate. I find myself grinding my teeth in silent irritation, knowing that engaging is not worth the time, while he witters on, safe in his own delusional bubble as the enormous mass of his ignorance dilates time leaving the listener in prolonged agony!

Beloved indeed. I might not agree with all he writes yet on this site he's in the list of the top five people with whom I'd like to dine.

The flamingos are practicing their Trooping of the Colour flypast over us and the hippos are Imitating King's guards horses, Not awfully well.

Down to a hand full of bats from 50. It is cool enough for them to sleep in the palms during the day with their dates to nibble on all day.

Hi folks. just reporting in.

spent part of yesterday with my GP. she sat listened and analysed my problem. Now on some very heavy anti biotics for ten days to get rid of knee swelling.. She wants to see me day after course finishes, as there is something else not quite right . wonders if I may have had a mini stroke.

Hello from soggy Florida. Had a horrific storm last night. Thunderstorm/wind/rain all night. Weather alerts went off most of the night. We were off to lunch at the beach today, but several beach roads are flooded and downtown is a bit iffy also. Luckily, we live on what constitutes a hill in Florida (it is notoriously flat) so all our rain funnels away. Definitely see a nap in our futures. We are blaming youngest daughter for the deluge as she is visiting for a couple of weeks.

This is where I have been spending my mornings this week, it's almost like having my own private beach until later in the day, sea temperature is up to 17°C now.

At 12:00 today three Merlin helicopters flew south to north along Paignton shoreline in a V formation.

Evening all,
warmish today, seaweed 28c still 32c as I type. Not quite a dome.
