Morning all. 10/15.
Clear blue skies, currently 13c, forecast max 19c. When I went out to collect my paper this morning I was greeted by Charles the king parrot. Usually, if he's going to visit it's in the afternoon. However, the early bid gets the birdseed.
Most (but not quite all) foreshore land in Australia is public access, but in Melbourne there are some bathing boxes.

Forget bathing huts or boxes. Now that I have hit my gnarley 60's I want my own personal bathing machine with an optional fair flapper, in search of her very own lighthouse keeper, to adorn its platform.

Good morning, lost an hour overnight due to the imposition of NZ Daylight Time, it is now 7:14am NZDT.
Cautiously re-set the time on the eight-day clock which is still ticking along, took two days of patient gentle tiltings to re-start it after the earthquake.

6.4°C expecting 8°C and will be overcast all day with gentle south-easterly breeze.

Cats fed, one purring. Wife tucked up in guest bed. Me headed to my bed, exhausted. Night, all!

That's one thing with show dogs, plenty of baths. Kepler will even stand still while I hose her down. I have a spray attachment into which I can put the shampoo, so it penetrates the fur better than me having to rub it by hand.

You take care of self, sir. You'll settle into a routine soon and the days will get easier, I trust.

Meanwhile enlist any assistance you can, anything that will simplify and make things easier.

Good wishes to you and Mme OFSO.

7/15. Cloud persists but the guess is it will clear later, 24c for the day once the cloud clears. Off to hang out the washing, have a great day one and all.

Morning all, 8/15. All except 1 guess incorrect.
8/8 cloud here but no rain forecast. Currently 18c, forecast max 21c. Garden has been given a serious watering, especially around the mango tree, which now has abundant flowers. Maybe this year it will yield a reasonable crop. Best crop ever was about 20 fruit, not bad for a tree that grew from a discarded seed in the compost bin.

So I've re-set the mantel clock, the stove clock, and my wristwatch; there's the bedside clock-radio to do, and the car clock; I think that is all.
The phones adjust themselves mysteriously, I ignore the time on the little weather-station, and none of the other appliances are clever enough to need clocks.

Has been overcast all day, rained and drizzled at times, reached 10°C.
Back to cooler temperatures for the coming week, it seems.

I was out for a couple of hours on Friday in the rain and when I came home, dozens of little wispy green cotyledons of California Poppies (Eschscholzia) had appeared in a bare patch in the garden, they must have been just waiting for the rain.

Thanks for reminding me about the car clock ! if I can find the Manual, controls not naturally instinctive, unlike the 200 yr. old Grandfather clock, on which I just open the front and push the minute hand around one circuit. Easy, unlike all the modern digital disasters. ( Madams 24 hr. digital wristwatch is a bi-annual mystery waiting to happen again in a few moments. ) Having done it, let's keep it this way forever, i.e. permanent DST. I don't need the morning light, and the evening light is a pleasure.

Much the same here except some devices think they are in the UK and need an hour offset. Windy and cool here. Cats not howling outside, must still be in their nests in the jungle.

AM 8 (seems a popular score)
PM 14 (Quite a bit of lucky guesswork)

I have an 8 day long case clock which must be about 100 years old. I have no idea where my grandfather got it from, there are no makers marks on it and the general opinion is that it was made possibly as an apprentice piece with the case acquired separately. It has confused several repairers; one commented 'all the bits are there but not necessarily where I would expect to find them'. Shades of Morecambe and Wise! My grandfather had connections with the North Eastern Railway so that is a possible source - several pieces of furniture round the house have locks stamped NER. The clock sulks, sometimes for several weeks, when it has been moved or when I forget to wind it and it runs down, but when I get to that age I shall probably often be in a similar mood when disturbed.
