Snow disappeared overnight but Orkney Islands Council say:
👉The Met Office has updated the times for the Amber weather warning for winds (expected to be 80mph to 85mph) from 9.00pm tonight, until 6.00am tomorrow morning (Monday).
👉Currently, all schools will be OPEN tomorrow – but this will be re-assessed between 6.00am and 7.00am tomorrow and this may change if required – we’ll update you through the usual channels if that happens.
👉Because the amber weather warning lifts at 6:00am, school transport should run as normal. This too will be reviewed, in line with policy, between 6:00am and 7:00am tomorrow morning.
👉Some older pupils were due to sit prelim exams tomorrow. Should there be any disruptions as a result of the weather, the schools will be in touch with parents directly about the arrangements for these.
👉Orkney Ferries sailings are impacted this afternoon and tomorrow morning – Papdale Halls of Residence will open at the usual time tonight. Keep an eye of Orkney Ferries for their latest updates

My lower drive two days ago, upper drive was the same. At least there were no travelling salesmen.

Big Jet TV at LHR is currently worth watching.

The flight to Gib went well - thanks Woody :) A bit late off the stand, but there was some sort of major incident on the stand next door, with all three emergency services in attendance. We actually arrived a few minutes early, but the landing was a bit long and lots of braking was required to ensure we didn't go off the other end :)
I hadn't realised that BA charge for the use of WiFi, but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Two of their major competitors, KL and AF do not; dunno about LH.
Now for a few days of decent weather and tax-free booze :YMPARTY:

Nowt to do with me, weekend off, but glad all went smoothly.

Big Jet TV is only worth watching with the sound off.

Blowing a hooligan on the Humber, the guesser says we are getting 60 knots gusts just now and it feels like it. It should still be around until tomorrow afternoon but it has brought the temperature back up to double figures, 14C at mid afternoon. Cooked a cheese and bacon quiche in the air fryer for tea it came out rather well.

Michelle Mone has admitted that she lied to the media over her links to a PPE firm. Enough is enough, it's time those in power put an end to this sordid affair. Sign the petition now and demand Mone is expelled from the House of Lords: https://38d.gs/j1uu

Good morning all, 11/15 today. https://www.stuff.co.nz/quizzes/3501257 ... ry-22-2024

Cloudy today, currently 21C, forecast max 26C. Had a strong southerly last night which cooled things down a bit. Workshop and housework day today.

Good morning - 13/15, thank you, Hydromet.

Overcast, 20°C now, expecting 29°C later.
Woke to hear quite heavy rain early this morning, pleasant sound.

11/15. Hydromets weather report for the day applies to my area as well, although the strong southerly he wrote about was only a gentle breeze by the
time it reached here. I am waiting for the climate loonies to start blaming all and sundry for yesterday's 39 c.temp instead of accepting it was just a
hot summer day like we have had plenty of in the past years.

If a 'weather bomb' is defined as a drop in pressure of 24Mb in 24 hours then what is a drop of 32Mb in 11 hours called? 'Cos that's what's happening here...995Mb at 1200 and 963Mb at 2300 and still dropping at 1.4Mb an hour. A mere breeze of 62mph here as Storm Isha approaches.......

No trains running at all in Scotland since 1900 and Sellafield nuclear site has suspended operations overnight.

Much earlier this evening there were two 7700 Squawks, one behind the other, into Manchester having diverted from Glasgow - 220/40 gusting 56kt at GLA at the moment.

Clear and cold here. Water coming out of taps is colder than I've known it.

First morning of winter with frost icon on in car. Zero degrees in Roses. Seven degrees plus up at our house at 200m asl.

Sunny for the first time in a few days here. I have the woodstove stovepipe needing its mid season clean out.

Storm Isha sucked out the glass from two old metal framed roof skylights in the outbuildings last night. Managed to board both up from inside and put frame sealant round the edges as temporary waterproofing. We await the glazier due sometime/never. Mrs C16 not happy with me going up a ladder with my iffy knee but no choice really as heavy rain is due tonight.

Not a drop of rain all day. The flood coming from Namibia and Angola looks good. It will not get here until June/July though.
