Wow reddo - that's an achievement for her - and the rest of the family - to be extremely proud of!

Well done to your SIS Reddo on being awarded her OAM, a magnificent achievement. I imagine she spent a fair amount of the 27 years treating the permanent campers! I notice that some of the dissenters managed to knock Captain Cook off his plinth in Melbourne,on the eve of Australia Day.
Been a sunny dry day on the Humber, bit strange ,that!

D#1 just called to inform me that she passed her do-over CFI checkride.
She was supposed to have done it on Tuesday but WX didn't cooperate.
Things were complicated due to the fact that since she pinked on stall/spin recognition/recovery she had to demonstrate spins (per regs) in a spin-legal aircraft then she and the examiner switched to the PA-28 to finish the items that weren't accomplished on the original checkride.
I think that I will reward her by letting her give me my (long overdue) BFR.

Well done Daughter !
Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Congratulations all round, Reddo and PhxPhlyer, to your respective family folk. I know three people who have been awarded OAMs over the years, and all have been entirely merited. Phx, it's great to see our kids doing well in whatever field they choose, especially if it's your own.
Grey skies and light rain here this morning, currently 20C, forecast max 26C. It's good to have a break from the heat, though it's still quite humid.

reddo - congratulations to your sister-in-law: splendid work, richly-deserved award.
PHXPhlyer - well done to your D#1!
Has been a warm and breezy day, up to 30°C, still 28°C.

PHXPhlyer - well done to your daughter. Being mucked around weather and aircraft wise can be rattling, but she did it

Morning folks. A bit cloudy no rain. The pelicans have left us. Guess that we are out of fish now, good job we don't go fishing.
Solar guy on his way to look at our system he thinks that we are not getting the power we should. He is also going to drop the bore hole pump another 2m. That should be good enough for the current low water table level.

Good Morning All,
17°c currently, Nearly Dome just some really high wispy stuff. Lots of chemtrails.
Billy the Sooth predicts 20°c.
AEMET seems to have nickers in a twist. One output showing steady decrease in the prevailing mildness.
The other predicting the unusual mild conditions to continue through mid February.
Both agree little rain.
I purchased a light fitting yesterday, for the life of me I can’t work out how to connect wires to it.
Chinese puzzle of course.
A further purchase is more what I expected and is now hanging off the wall.
Congrats to D#1

Every cloud has a silver lining. Spanish/French border closed means Mercadona supermarket this morning devoid of smelly French standing talking and meandering hopelessly.

I'm sure this fits with the totally pointless element of this thread.
I've been reading the splurges about the Icon of the Seas which is due to sail today. But there is one question that is rarely asked and never answered.
What exactly do you do with 7000 peoples ***** every day?
Don't even think about the likely aftermath of a norovirus outbreak.
The Ancient Mariner
PS I'm sure that the original and genuine ancient mariner over on TOP, who was a marine engineer, would know.

This cruise ship can carry nearly 10,000 people. Here’s more of what sets Icon of the Seas apartRossian wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 3:11 pmI'm sure this fits with the totally pointless element of this thread.

The ship produces more than 93% of its fresh water through reverse osmosis. And Icon of the Seas also has the brand’s first microwave-assisted pyrolysis waste-to-energy system (MAP), used to convert onboard waste to gas that the ship can use as energy.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
We've been over to see the abandoned restaurant that friends have taken a lease on. My goodness. A typical old Catalan building, room after room, terrace after terrace, balconies, a pub, a disco, on a ridge looking over groves of trees and out to sea. They have a month to get ready, first booking is for 70 members of the government end February. We've been finding them staff: a book keeper, ex -civil service, our cleaner part time, a pastry cook. They had 300 applicants for staff when word got out. Nice people, hard work and enthusiasm.
