We call those "brothels" here in Europe....

("Bumsladen" in German.)
Google TranslateTM has it as F*ck Shop!
Literal translation?

The word I learnt was the unlikely one of Bordell, but I was assured by native German speakers that it was correct

Wet and miserable all day with wet snow this morning but only rain now, max 2C. Had to cross the Humber to get the car provided with a second electronic chipped key_(scarce as hens teeth) and at the same time receive a couple of hours of instruction on making the wizardy bits on the car go. Absolutely amazing how clever these modern cars are, I am sure the majority of it's knowledge will remain within it for the lifetime of our ownership!! And we dont give a Monkeys! It has stopped trying to take us to Hungary now though when we tell it number 1 daughters post code, who only lives in Hull!
Mrs 1DC's garage door has stopped opening from the house, OK from the car but not from the house. I put a new battery in the gizmo the other day I wonder if I put it in the wrong way around, I will go and check. Watch this space..

A shout out to Leask Marine Ltd for braving the cold water, freeing up the rope trapped in the MV Varagen prop and getting ferry on its way this afternoon. The vessel was due to leave at 16:00 but left ahead of the revised anticipated departure of 16:40 at 16:20.

FWIW, my car has a built in garage door opener that I only just set the other day.... had the car 3 years already just never set it. It was actually quite simple. The code was writtten on the motor in the garage and I just needed to enter the code into the car. If the code is not writen, you can open the reciever box and write it down based on the position of the sliders---and change the code if you ever lose an opener....The things one learns when bored on a Sunday afternoon.

Weeks of cold nights and hot middays have ended with an unusual gale from the south, sweeping across the Bay of Roses, up the mountain and hitting the back of the house. Not cold but I feel cold. Possibility of rain on Saturday.

Poof is another German coloquilism for a brothel.

We have a weather break. Three days of sun and cloud, with light winds. Nova Scotia hopefully has enough time to dig out before three storm systems dump rain and snow on the region next week.
If they don't get the snow off the roofs, there will be a lot of cave-ins with the added weight of the rain soaking into the snow.
It is for this reason that we have the highest snow loading factors for roof design in Canada.
The snow is off my roofs, and I have clear walkways and driveways. It is 20 degrees in the house without the heating on, but -2 outside.
With luck, the next couple of days will melt most of the snow off the rest of my property, and I will have an easy time of the rest of the winter. Fingers crossed.

I for one would be interested in what your workshop day activities are.
Maybe a line or two?

Rain today through Saturday, sometimes heavy.
The PGA golf tournament with the highest attendance of any PGA event started here today and has already had a suspension of play for 4 hours.
They will be lucky to get the full 72 holes in.
The good news is that Sunday's forecast is for sun so 36 holes would be possible if needed.
This tournament is actually a giant cocktail party where a relative few actually play golf.

Various forms of turning wood into sawdust - currently, mainly making boxes. Sometimes it's interesting & challenging, sometimes, as when doing a lot of hand sanding, it's just tiresome (I was going to say boring, but that's another task again.) Boxes have been of various sizes & purposes. Largest was a coffin, complete with wine racks & bookshelves, smallest was a 20mm cube for a magician.
