11/15. Fairly quiet day. Sun shining on the Humber. Checked on the neighbour afraid his memory has dropped a stage. Petrol in Herself's car. Not much else to report.

Afternoon all, 13/15 today. Pleasant day, 30C currently which is the forecast max. There's a pleasant breeze, Mrs Hydro & D2 have gone out shopping, I've watered the gardens and filled the birdbaths and all is right with the world.

44C yesterday with Scattered Cu, bases around 9,500' so I launched a few Glider Pilots. One flew about 370km.

Today it's 43C and a Blue day so only one Pilot wanted to give the day a go. He's currently at just over 7,000' just south of the Waikerie A/F and only flying within a 30 km radius of the field, having been up for just over 3 1/2 hours. Thermals going to around 9,000'

Tomorrow may be a Cu day again.

Morning folks. Sun, but got 9 mm of rain yesterday. February was the hottest in 40 years here in Botswana. The farmers are struggling. We still have some puddles of water in the lagoon so the cattle are OK so far. Don't know where the hippos have gone.

What altitude do you take them to Pinky or is it on request? Used to drop the paras from 12,000' max but they never stayed airborne for long. The standard was 10,000' 12 took us into an airway which of course had to be cleared. Nothing like a bunch of idiots plummeting past your window. With the BN2T I used to land before them. 10,000' downwind and close the throttles. :YMPARTY:

Is that the nature smirking at us trying to oversmart the physical life expectancy?
When my Father had the same problems I was sometimes wondering - the things he didn't remember any more and I did, did these actually happen and does it matter (if they did)? For him they didn't. Like him being a member of a committee he was really proud of and doing things that mattered then, and no memory of it at all.

I just keep climbing and they release when they want to. 2,000' AGL is generally the minimum unless we're going through a large strong thermal and above around 1500'. If they think the thermal is worthwhile they'll release.

Today's maximum temperature was 45C.

Roast beef, Yorkshire, and a myriad of vegetables. Mrs OFSO made so much I never thought we'd eat it all. When we tasted it, we did

Our friend who was robbed last weekend has been asking our project manager to build her a new cess pit for ages. Old one fell in :-o She is a bit low on his jobs list as she always asks to pay in instalments, she doesn't have much dosh. She now has practically nothing. We have bought her a cesspit which will go in next week. Never bought a cesspit for anyone before. Thought she may be offended so joked about it and she has accepted.
Cesspit or septic tank? A cesspit is a sealed sewerage system whereas septic tanks offer waste disposal, typically to a drainage field. As a result, cesspits will need to be emptied regularly for them to function properly. Have been in this house for 20 years (a record for us!) and septic tank hasn't been touched. Mind you, some houses near the harbour empty foul sewer contents straight into the sea. Scottish Water have a cunning plan to install a giant septic tank but every year it falls off the bottom of Scottish Water's schedule because of "higher priority schemes".

I have a contract with Scottish Water to empty our septic tank every three years - the longest period they will accept for a contract. It’s due this month and I’ve heard nothing. For the last two years they have tried to turn up here. They don’t seem very organised.

Good morning all, Sunny day today. Currently 25C, forecast max 30C.
Quiz tried to get me to sign in again today. No thanks.
Thanks Bob, I may be running on all cylinders, but much reduced throttle. Still, not too bad thanks all.

Likewise here, for the first time in a week or two.

42C outside. Might yet get to 45C as per the previous 2 days. One Gider Pilot launched earlier. Flying locally it appears but thermals going to around 9,000'.

Evening all. Recovering from the first day of summer time. Got to see it happen, too - Kepler woke me up at about 01:57, so I watched the clock tick over from 01:59 to 03:00. (Anyone else have a bedside clock that runs Linux?)

Took Cassini out to a flea market this morning (hence having to get up), hopefully the experience did him good because the vast majority of those wanting to say hello to him were respectful of him being nervous with all the people around. Interesting to watch how he would interact with some people but back off from others. High pitched voices seem to put him off, but he has other preferences too.

Chopped up a bit more tree, green bin is full again. Washed all three dogs, Faraday needs it because she's showing next weekend and I might not have time during the week, the other two just on general principles. Taking all three of them plus two of the cats to the vet on Tuesday in the van, so cleaned that out and installed the temporary third crate again. Also now have a dash cam in the van, will be interesting to see how that performs on the road, although I hope I never need to require its content.
