Blimey, £17.95 for Fish and chips in Orkney and the place awash with fish. £7.95 for pensioners Haddock, peas and chips, bread and butter, tea and ice cream to finish in a decent fish and chip shop down here! About £12.00 if you don't want to admit to being a pensioner. The piece of fish goes up to the size of a whale..
The weather has taken a turn for the better on the Humber on the second dry day, a bit of sunshine and I reckon it touched 16C, this may be the peak though it will slowly drift down to the norm of 8 or 9 for the weekend apparently.
The fire service came and checked the house out to see if we were safe enough apparantly smoke alarms et al were all working ok. Suggested we got an extra carbon monoxide detector for upstairs, so we have. Checked out the neighbour as well, he with the dementia! He couldn't here his smoke alarms when he was in the bedroom when they went off so they fitted another one with a slave that was alongside the bed with a strobe light that would light up the universe this also had an extension that went under his pillow and vibrated if the alarm sounded. All for free and an excellent service . I will also get him a carbon monoxide detector too because he doesn't have one. The fancy new smoke alarm the fire service fitted had one built in for the bedroom end of the house.
Apparently the Honey Nut cornflakes I have been having for breakfast for years are the unhealthiest you can eat, I am supposed to eat shredded wheat. Just when I thought I was being healthy..At least I have got some new local honey to put on them, Plum would approve.

My choice of breakfast cereal is Weetabix.

I also indulge as a snack if I wake hungry during the night.

Good morning all, cloudy, currently 24C, forecast max 28.
Since being ill, I've been unable to look at my normal breakfast of muesli, which I previously quite enjoyed. I've started having mixed fruit with yoghurt, which is probably healthier anyway.
Tele consult with Dr yesterday. Apparently latest tests came back OK, he says my lack of energy is just normal post-infection. Spent about an hour in the workshop yesterday & felt OK. Planned to go back after lunch, but fell asleep instead. I'm still losing weight, but otherwise seem to be improving.

Fire regs changed in Scotland a couple of years ago. In every home you legally now have to have interlinked smoke alarms - a minimum of one smoke alarm in the living room, one in every hallway and landing, a heat alarm (not a smoke alarm) in the kitchen and a carbon monoxide detector (not necessarily interlinked) in any room with a carbon-fuelled appliance. If one smoke/heat alarm goes off they all do......if the batteries work of course. Compliance is part of any Home Report when a house sale is planned.

Morning folks. Blazing sunshine. Would love to bring you a VC10 John but they trashed them all I think.

Hydro, Mrs OFSO was exhausted for months and lost her appetite after her knee infection. Was told it wasn't the surgery to install the knee joint but the infection.

A grey start to the day but 18° forecast. Will soon have to discard the Heatech pullovers which I've been wearing since last autumn. Tempus Fugits.

Duxford has one. Not that I think they'd part with it.

Scottish Fire Service chap comes over from Kirkwall every few months to check out the local volunteers and will give free home safety check if requested to do so. I installed a heat detector in the kitchen plus a couple in the lounge and the hall, all connected wirelessly, Scottish Fire Service chap approves. Not cheap but gives peace of mind. I also have a free personal alarm (on a cord round my neck) & a smoke detector, courtesy of Orkney Islands Council as I'm categorised as a "fall risk". If I press the alarm or the smoke detector goes off it sounds an alarm via the telephone connection.

My local supermarket has run out of easter eggs, Ricardian. Could you pop over to the next island and buy some for me please? :))
