Canoe polo is second only to water polo in being exhausting, but it is easier to drown doing canoe polo.
They were the preferred choice for PTIs to inflict on us on my Initial Officer Training.

Returned yesterday from seeing Warbirds Over Wanaka, practice day on Friday, display over Lake Wanaka that afternoon, full shows on Saturday and Sunday.

Superb, A1, experience of a lifetime.

High point: the beautiful little bird, the Spitfire; hearing Churchill's On the beaches and The Few speeches while watching WW2 aircraft flying in formation.

Others: the F-16s, the American Patriots L-39s, the helicopters, the parachutists, the Poseidon, the Hercules, the Globemaster, the Black Falcons, the glider, the faultless commentary from intelligent, informed men and women who named every aircraft, provenance, manoeuvre and pilot. Many many other things.

My tour group was front and centre with access to the grandstand seen at the right, east of where these videos were filmed. The sun is in the north. Also had access to the huge marquee with excellent catering.

The location: amid wonderful scenery of dun-coloured hills, high Alps, lakes and rivers, under cloudless blue skies.

I saw a Tesla Cybertruck in the wild for the first time today.
It is Fugly! :-o [-X :-q
Also have seen some less than kind reviews as well.
I'm sure there will still be plenty of people with a lot of money and without clues that will have to have them.

I have seen a few up in California, and yes, have to agree---I will not be buying one.

I parked next to one a few weeks ago and that was my first impression too. A Ford Transit is not elegant either, but it's way more useful and just looks better. The Cybertruck looks too much like someone was browsing through the covers of 1950s SciFi books with outlandish spacecraft designs and decided to emulate them in real life.

Just had an excellent -4.6M pass of the ISS.
5.5 minute total visible time and directly overhead.

New calendar pages for April:

NZ Birds: the NZ Falcon o:-)

Desk calendar on mantel, Vintage travel posters of Italy: Lake Como, the bell-tower of Ossuccio

Scenes of Italy: colourful facades on the island of Burano, Venice

NZ Weather: The south of New Zealand often bears the brunt of cold southerly busters barrelling in from the Southern Ocean. As well as bringing dramatic bands of clouds, these changes can bring strong winds, heavy rain, and a drastic drop in temperature.

Morning folks. Back home. Cloudy but no rain.

Partly cloudy up here in London. Train journey went quickly as I had three teenage boys escorting me. All chatting about their sports prowess - triathlon, swimming, bikes etc. Good lads.

Hope you told them they shouldn't be wasting their time on sports, they should be on their electronic devices like normal children!

Karearea, I like your namesake. Raptors are amazing to watch when they're at work.

Purely by chance we all met on the station platform going home and yes, now all on their phones. However, all playing sports games.....

Thank you :)
I happened to see one while I was on my travels in Otago through the weekend.

More about the Karearea here - just X the ads away, it's an interesting article with numerous photos:

A sunny day on the Humber with 13C and no rain although a fair downpour is due overnight.Found the clock I forgot to change over the weekend, there it was in plain sight through the kitchen window on the outside wall. 18 inches diameter who could miss it..Such a lovely day was advised I was going for a walk along the sea front, forgot the kid s were on holiday, many trippers about but overall not too bad and I did get parked and I did get a decent cup of coffee and bacon sandwich..At 1400 watched a container feeder ship going down the Humber at 13 knots on its way to Rotterdam and as I write it is off Great Yarmouth and due in Rotterdam at 0500,its a small world..

Morning all, blue skies with a little scattered cloud. Currently 18C, forecast max 24C after a cool overnight. I actually feel like doing a bit today. Might potter in the garden.

I've started playing with the Hard Word on the Stuff quiz page. It's one of those where I reckon I get it within ten seconds or not at all.
