Yes, llondel, it was a hard decision but not a difficult one. To have proceeded with the surgery option would have been a matter of us yoomans manipulating Nature to suit our convenience and to buy some more time with a lovely horse. It probably would not really have been to the benefit of the horse.

That fact that all five of us felt the same way, including a child of thirteen and someone who had known the horse for over a decade, is an indication that there really was only one option.
We are there with Tesla, our senior dog. She had some mammary tumours removed a few months ago and they're reasonably confident that they got all of it, but if it has metastasized then we're going to skip chemo and go for palliative care because the reduction in quality of life for an extra few months isn't worth it for her. She's in for a check-up tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

Thoughts and prayers, UP. How strange it is that just about everyone of the chums in TRABB are suffering from bereavement or breakages or lurgies of one type or another - has been going on like this for months, it seems... and you, UP have had more than your fair share.

Sunny afternoon and 9°, after a bleak start overnight where the fog cleared, frost descended and then the murk returned. Observed frost on tops of hedges and shrubbery as well as lawn, bit wintery-looking.

House-fairy is afflicted with the Bug, so not working the next week or two.

Have my own private Stonehenge for several weeks at this time of year, when the Sun sets over the house across the street. Moving right to left, the low Sun shines straight in my French windows, bothering me where I sit; then slips behind the neighbour's chimney for a few minutes, reappears in the angle between chimney and roofline, and then sets.

Six am and the mid-week Black Wash is in after early wakening. Tinnitus roaring away. Off to the gym to mortify my body back into submission.

There's a nasty virus going around here. Flu type symptoms including fatigue, vomiting and so on. Tests for Covid are coming up negative.

Morning folks.

A cooler 18c this morning with only a high of23c suggested.

Brave decision, but the only one to have made UP. Condolences.

Morning folks. Both of us are sorry to hear your news UP. Mrs Ex-Ascot was brought up with horses.

Miserable day here. Cold and cloudy. No hot water for shower or bath, no power to pump water up to the tank. No power to filter pool. Don't mind these conditions if rain is involved but it is not. Will have to start the genny but that doesn't solve the cold water problem. We do have a donkey boiler but goodness knows what state the water is in.

The lagoon is continuing to recede. Squiffy Pussy III still has her stern afloat. The river in town is looking good so we will get the flood water eventually.

My final post on the recent equine matter, other than to thank y'all for your kind thoughts.

Two years ago SM bought a Honda Jazz, mild hybrid and with electric everything, keyless ignition, all sorts of bells and whistles - some useful, some not very useful and some just damned annoying - to replace her previous one. It was collected this morning for its annual service and she had to borrow my car (previously hers some years ago) to go to the hairdresser. She picked up the key and disappeared out of the front door...silence for several minutes...then she re-appeared asking 'how the hell she started the damned thing', to coin her own words.

I had to re-introduce her to the concept of putting the key in the ignition lock on the steering column and turning it, upon which the engine leapt into life... #-o =))

UP- :YMHUG:

Llondel-hoping for a positive outcome :YMHUG:

More thunderstorms today. Can hear distant thunder out in the Gulf. Not sure if I will get my walk in today. Perhaps a quick toddle around the block.

Painting continues. Doing a second coat on the hallway. Watching Wimbledon and painting in between matches. No painting yesterday as matches took precedence!

Watching paint dry seems an apt description of grass court ping-pong.

Had a bastard fishing off the end of our jetty this morning. Got our gardener to tell him to bugger off. I mean who does he thinks owns it? We do actually have a 'Private' sign but it is not there as it would be stolen.

Hippo city. Can't count them as they keep on bobbing up and down.

Very cloudy, genny running.

Quite pleased with my efforts on the new smart phone. Only a couple of things not working now.

Back still bad. Town day tomorrow. May not get out of the car apart to have a few beers with a friend. Her man is going to clean the car so I will have to get out.

An update on Tesla, no trace of tumours found, so she's currently OK, They want to check her again every three months and won't consider her clear until two years have elapsed. Given her age (9), something else might get her before then.

A hot and sweaty night with strange dreams yet again. Driving a motorhome down a steep slope into arid desert and eventually after crossing it, under a black sky, arriving into what looked like the UK, where - inevitably - I met the lady who often turns up in my dreams.
