Self Assessment paid, HMRC account fatter, TGA's leaner.
Overcast, 8 degrees Celsius. Woke up late and dreaming about having had my meteorology examination being marked by an old boy Scouting friend's mom who I secretly fancied when I was 14.
My tawdry juvenile fantasies meet the weather, and my ignorance because I only scored 50% in the examination. I wonder what Dr Freud would make of it all! How does the brain dredge all of this detritus up some 47 years later?

My necessaries are embark'd: farewell. Adieu! I have too grieved a heart to take a tedious leave.

A rare pleasure today. Yesterday a leaking sink tap hinted at the misery today of dealing with crap materials and design taking the tap out and sourcing a washer. Not a bit of it. Tap beautifully made, various bits unscrewed, valve had been fitted using correct torque, and best of all it was a ceramic capsule, new to Spain. No sign of anything wrong. Cleaned and reinstalled, no longer dripping. No doubt grit or plastic jamming the cylindet, they are constantly repairing leaks here and never flush out the pipes.

Very draughty up here just lately. All ferries cancelled today and tomorrow morning. Loganair's Islanders are still battling through, one took friends to Kirkwall yesterday at the start of a four week tour of South America - rather them than me; I think that they will need a long holiday to recover when they return.

Rabbits, rabbits, rabbits!
Very dull, overcast and humid, 18°C expecting 25°C, and currently 75% humidity.

A chilly start to the day once more. By lunchtime the wasps will be out and annoying us. Their houses must be better insulated than ours.

Morning folks. Weather as reported. Kalo Mina to all our Greek correspondents. CCTV chap due here yet again. Stirred up ***** at head office on Monday so it may happen. Got to meet our seamstress at the safari camp at lunchtime. She can't get to our place in her car. Got a phone call yesterday, no hello, good afternoon nothing. Just, I'm done. This means that she has finished the arm covers for our sitting room suite. It is only 40 years old. She is very skilled but unfortunately has very little work.

It's the coldest morning yet....2c....ice on cars. Clear blue sky above.
We seem to have been adopted by another cat.
Yesterday, I purchased the frozen food I required from the Blue/Yellow emporium, plus some ready meals not seen before. However, the fabric shop Mrs. IB wanted to visit had gone, without trace.

Morning folks.
Back home after emergency child-minding for junior daughter. She spent best part of two days in hospital with #1 grandson who was taken in late on Monday night with suspected appendicitis - she had already been taken him to hospital earlier in the day after being referred by their GP, but had been sent home and told to take calpol and ibuprofen. It turned out to be his lymph nodes playing up - apparently the symptoms are similar to appendicitis.
She was fine with the attention the lad got from the doctors and nurses ( especially the nurses as he's a bonny little lad) but what pee'd her off was the time taken to discharge him once the doc said he was OK - t'was well over six hours before the cannula was taken out and they could leave, and we hear the NHS frequently complaining about beds being occupied by patients who are fit to leave thus causing tailbacks in A&E/ambulances waiting to off-load patients!!

I find it amazing that the Australians managed to find the radioactive capsule that fell off the back of a truck as it was being transported 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) along the Great Northern Highway from a mine - I guess radioactive was the clue - but it was only 6mm diameter!
It was found two metres from a remote road by crews using radiation detection equipment.
It was initially detected by staff inside a car that was travelling at 70km/h past the capsule. A handheld radiation device was then used to find the exact location on the ground.
The question is - was the capsule really 'loose' on its own rather than being packed into a carrier?

Good Moaning all,
13c and cloudless, overnight low of 7c. I have difficulty understanding the variation in temp over 70 km.
Yesterday I went to the dentist with a loose crown. No appointments in February !
Agreed to call with a cancellation, there will be one quoth the lovely Sonja.
Three hours later she rings with an appointment this morning.
Crown re-cemented won't last. I seem to recall when she crowned it she said it would be beyond repair next time.
Insert or bridge coming up - more expense.

Driving down the road at 70km/h will, on the average handheld counter, give about 4 seconds when a 19GBq source within 2m of the road is within range. They tend to update every 3 seconds, so a fair opportunity it will go beep.I find it amazing that the Australians managed to find the radioactive capsule that fell off the back of a truck
Then just stop the truck and walk back with the detector.
They probably have better detectors.
It was a good choice of speed, and in any case I'm sure they would have checked whether it would work by first trying it with another source.

20° on our terrace, about 18° more than it was at seven a.m. and will be by seven p.m. I miss the clicks and rattles we used to get from the former PVC guttering, expanding and contracting in the sunlight before it finally fell off. The new aluminum guttering on the upper and lower terraces is completely silent and looks strong enough to hold the house together.
Loose filings and crowns: UHU is the stuff to use. Strong enough to hold them in place but not so strong as to defeat the dentist.

There's now't wrong with the glue we use to hold our Nuclear subs together. viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5392&p=359270#p359270UHU is the stuff to use.
