As Hot as the Hobs of Hell today. You could fry a Frenchman in his own grease on the pavement.

Anyone know why the girls are not allowed an open bus top tour of London?
The lady footballers are not allowed to go topless - it's a yellow card at least.....plus several bookings from model agencies. ;)))

Nancy Pelosi currently at the latitude of Luzon, east of the Philippines, probably landing at Taipei in 2 hours. Callsign is SPAR19:
https://www.flightradar24.com/SPAR19/2ce4f83f
..or is she? A second C-40C arrived in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. No confirmation which one she is on, if any, or where the other one is.
Both Chinese aircraft carriers reported at sea (first time ever, I think)
USS Ronald Reagan is reportedly just south of Taiwan. USS Tripoli with another 20 F35B is at sea south of Okinawa, at the north end of Taiwan.
Let the games commence!

20 minutes to landing.
Bloomberg reports the Chinese have closed the Taiwan Strait to all civilian traffic (probably sensible).
Covers have come off the SAM systems at Songshan airport.
8 USAF F15 Eagles + tanker (presumably out of Okinawa) reportedly flying high CAP over the 5 RoC fighters now escorting the C-40C

Latest: Taiwanese media reporting PLA J-16 fighters seen over Bashi Strait just south of Taiwan

Update: China Global News reports PLA Su35s "crossing the Taiwan Strait".

Update2: Mr Charles Snodgrass, of Acacia Avenue, Surbition, who hadn't cut his lawn for three weeks, has finally been spotted heading into his garden shed for the mower. "It's scandalous behaviour", said Mrs Volestrangler, of Number 32.

Update3: The Chinese have set off the Air Raid sirens in at least one city in Fujian province.

Update4: SPAR19 has the glide, ready to slide.

"After Landing checks, please Co-"

I used this lot
https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=ae503d
might be a useful link for future swampouts of flightradar24.

Well that all appears to have been a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
Wonder if Mr Snodgrass has got the mower working yet?

Sneaky trick going up the East coast of the island, not the West. That'll fool 'em.

I liked the way the way they lingered along the 12nm limit while the modern Asiatic equivalent of the Papieren Bitte procedure was carried out.

Why was it Pelosi? Why not the dusky maiden?

Is it some kind of human sacrifice thing? A Kowtow?

Sad news about hippos and another reason to think the Ex-Ascots are very lucky to have these grumpy herbivores (mostly) as neighbours!

https://www.theguardian.com/environment ... nimals-aoe
Hippopotamus amphibius was widespread in North Africa and Europe during the Eemian (130-115,000 years ago), with remains found as far north as England. Archaeological evidence exists of its presence in the Levant, dating to less than 3,000 years ago.The species was common in Egypt's Nile region during antiquity, but it has since been driven out. According to Pliny the Elder, in his time, the best location in Egypt for capturing this animal was in the Saite nome; the animal could still be found along the Damietta branch of the Nile after the Arab Conquest in 639. Reports of the slaughter of the last hippo in Natal Province were made at the end of the 19th century. Hippos are still found in the rivers and lakes of the northern Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya, north through to Ethiopia, Somalia, and Sudan, west to The Gambia, and south to South Africa.

Genetic evidence suggests common hippos in Africa experienced a marked population expansion during or after the Pleistocene, attributed to an increase in water bodies at the end of the era. These findings have important conservation implications, as hippo populations across the continent are currently threatened by loss of access to fresh water.[9] Hippos are also subject to unregulated hunting and poaching. As of 2017, the IUCN Red List drawn up by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists the species as vulnerable, with a stable population estimated between 115,000 and 130,000 animals. Zambia (40,000) and Tanzania (20,000–30,000) possess the largest populations.

The hippo population has declined most dramatically in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.By 2005, the population in Virunga National Park had dropped to 800 or 900 from around 29,000 in the mid-1970s.This decline is attributed to the disruptions caused by the Second Congo War. The poachers are believed to be Mai-Mai rebels, poorly paid Congolese soldiers, and local militia groups.Reasons for poaching include the belief hippos are harmful to society, as well as financial gain.As of 2016, the Virunga hippo population appears to have increased again, possibly due to greater enforcement and cooperation between fishermen and park authorities The sale of hippo meat is illegal, but black-market sales are difficult for Virunga National Park officers to track. Hippo meat is considered a delicacy in some areas of central Africa and the teeth have become a valued substitute for elephant ivory

What was he thinking about?

Just close yer eyes and think of England, perhaps?

Did he also buy shares in whoever sells Viagra? If so, before or after?

Heads-up that Twitter thinks it's #NationalBoobDay.

Several pictures of boobies and tits (and Trump, subspecies of the latter, and one of Biden).

Good Moaning All,

Cloudless, guess is 32c, currently 28c.

Bits and pieces of provisions to source, at least four stops including the hell of Nerja.
