Mrs 1DC and I have just realised that we have been married for 55 years today, as a result we will go to a decent restaurant tonight. We really are pushing the boat out cos I have already taken her out for a bacon bap at lunchtime.
Congrats DCs. Have some chips with it this evening even some tomato ketchup.

No hippos for some days but there is one grunting out front this evening.

One does not like to go over the top but we have both shouted at the thatchers next door to turn their radio off. Didn't work so I took the large axe around and threatened to smash it to pieces. The foreman said he would call the police. He doesn't know that they do not have a car. Anyway the noise has stopped. No point in messing about. =)) Probably get a visit tomorrow.
I was tempted to do the same to the idiots building the wooden summer house in the grand garden across the road over the last 5 days. Loud music punctuated by the screech of an electric saw turns me from the kind, rational, reasonable man that I am at heart, to somebody who wants to slowly disembowel and then defenstrate the brainless, thump music, fecking music, saw monkey, making the noise.

It seems such problems are universal. I wonder if the the Vogons or Trafalmadorians have the same issues with their labouring classes! I suppose the Vogons threaten with poetry... what a hideous way to go!

Today I found that the car had a flat tyre and that the power steering fluid had all leaked out. The car, a 2007 Mazda 5 Sport, only cost me £500 two years ago so I took the executive decision to scrap it, sent the SORN to the DVLA and asked the insurance company to cancel the policy; the car was an "island car" which meant that it didn't need an MOT as long as it never left the island. I am now a pedestrian but no longer have to shell out £700 a year in tax & insurance. I suspect that I may need that cash to pay for heating oil, given the way prices appear to be rising.
It will mean the loss of some independence, but the island’s two shops take orders via email, deliver to my door and accept payment via BACS. The only potential difficulties were getting to the kirk on Sunday, getting to/from the surgery to collect prescriptions or attend appointments with the GP/nurse, and getting to/from the ferry on the rare occasions that I need to visit mainland, usually to visit the dentist, optician or podiatrist. The kirk transport problem was solved when the kirk’s verger/caretaker offered to give me a lift to/from the kirk each Sunday and the other problems were solved when my octogenarian neighbours insisted that I contact them whenever I needed transport to the surgery or to the ferry. Life is good!

A neighbour has a rather good mobility scooter. Not your typical 4 wheeler. This is three wheeler with 12 inch wheels and she takes her dog for a walk around the fields.
It is Army green and looks a little an all terrain vehicle.

Sounds like me. I have a three wheeler golf ride-on buggy which I use when taking my dog down to the foreshore park. Looks like an agricultural version of a disability scooter. Like to think I could walk instead, but it's getting back afterwards that may be an issue.

Ants on my pillow at 06:00. Found and eliminated, but of course when I tried to get back to sleep imagination set in. This mountain we live on is just one nest of ants.

Yesterday I received the "Flight Discipline" book I ordered last July. The publisher has refunded its value as it wasn't delivered by the deadline set- when asked via email about the whereabouts of the book. They asked me to tell them when I received the book. My moral dilemma now is if I should offer to pay it as it was two weeks late (17 September instead of 3 September).

Sitting at the airfield ridiculously early.

This may at first glance seem to be off-topic to the above post, but it's both topical and on topic:

Morning folks. A tad cloudy and 23c. However cloud should burn off.

Went out with friends of many years, visiting the Costa from Manchester last night. Excellent Chinese meal in Elviria was had.

Greetings.
Firstly, belated Congratulations to the 1DC's. Well done you two.

Secondly, congratulation to Mr Sun who has managed to pop out to see us.
May get some showers this afternoon.

As we are in isolation it's more gardening. I seem to have spent the last 18 months in either shielding or isolation.

Morning folks. Fine but breezy. First booze cruise of the weekend has gone by not as noisy as usual. That will change. At safari camp for a few beers. No restrictions any more.

Too windy for the ship this weekend. May be OK Monday.

HF we have virtually self isolated for 18 months now. Very little contact with people. Fine with us.

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. 1DC. Hope you enjoyed your evening out :YMPARTY: :YMPARTY:

Some thunderstorms possible today, then I think we will be done with it. Had quite a bit of flash flooding hereabouts. Nice crop of fungi springing up on the front bit of grass. I planted some runners just before the deluge which have sprouted nicely, now if they can avoid rotting, I will be a happy camper. Might stick a quick row of lettuce in for giggles.
