It is blowing a hooley down here, gusting +- 35 knots but, lo and behold, a stalwart in a Cessna 320 has just tooled past, through the scudding clouds, insoucant, steadfastly in the general direction of Dover, and I envied him (or her), and in truth I would rather be up there, than here looking up today!

Wind has just come up here. Blown this morning's fog away. Sun was too hot to sit in, now clouds come over. Weather has its knickers in a twist as usual. Personally I blame Brexit.

Went for my covid booster this morning, following an text invite from the surgery couple of weeks ago to make an appointment for the jab. Went in and saw the new, and very attractive doc. She checked me on her computer, and said, your too early, 180 days haven't passed since the 2nd jab, I said that the surgery sent me a text asking me to book an appt..ahhhh she said with a knowing smile....." we are having problems with the text messaging system". New appt booked for Sunday (not with the new very attractive doc unfortunately, but with a nurse) it will be181 days from my 2nd jab. Apparently there is no clinical reason it can't be done a few days less than 180 days, but the system won't allow her to note that I've had it until the said 180 days have passed.

Had a root canal filling yesterday. My Fitbit noted that my pulse never went above 62 during the procedure. It was higher on the walk from the car and then back out afterwards.

In other news, it rained yesterday, first of the season. Unfortunately we 're due a lot more this weekend, so the dogs will get wet at the dog show.

This is a reverse rant! Last year the validity of our Seniors Discount Cards for the French TGV were extended by three months until December 31st 2021. Good news, but.....
Got an SNCF link today, special offer for next twelve months, a year's Senior card each for one (1) euro instead of €49. Now that's a bargain, especially as the cost of tickets has risen.
If only the Eurostar were as cheap. Mrs OFSO insisted on us travelling Premier instead of Standard at Christmas so we don't have to mix with all the Covid-infected in cattle class. And we get food and booze and a copy of Vogue to read...

Balfour hospital, Kirkwall leads the way!
The hospital is small compared to most in Scotland, just 49 beds, but it is the country's first built to a net-zero standard, which means the running of the building does not contribute carbon emissions.

Another day, another downpour.
Lashing it down at present. Forecast is mainly cloudy and
thunderstorms.

Billy is getting better. Bloods revealed he hasn't got a urinary tract infection but
a viral infection (CMV) which is easily cleared when caught early. Onwards and upwards
we go. Asked about when I can drive again. Another 3 weeks of being ferried about by
Mrs HF was the verdict.

I wanted to do some gentle clearing of the summer bedding plants today but that looks
like a lost cause so it's more rest and recuperation.

Morning folks.

16c with a clear blue sky. Should make 23c by mid afternoon. No stiff breeze today.

Trip to recycling bins after breakfast, then Tesco and back via farmacia. All before gripe vacunas.

Weather same as HF, rear windscreen on MrsWoody’s car cracked yesterday, awaiting replacement this morning before late shift at Perry Oaks International, fortunately not involving any of the liquid/solids mentioned in the other thread :D
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Morning all,
It's 22c for the guess of 25c, should manage that.
cloudless and clear.

Cleaner this morning so I plan a trip to the hypermarket to stay out of the way.

SM has managed an emergency appointment for tomorrow with the opth eye doctor.
She feels most of her problems stem from her eyes. It's not until 19.30 though in Malaga city.

Punto goes for his magic injection this afternoon, a dose of antibodies that make him a different dog.

I think a mostly non day today, tomorrow will be quite busy.

Some heartening news for the GreenGoblin, as a very good friend, and his American girlfriend, originally from Phoenix Arizona (remember Leo and Erin Woody?), both in the pedagogic business, are coming over to work at Durham University for a year. They both met in San Francisco where he was lecturing and was she doing her PhD at Berkeley. Ultimately she followed him to live and work with him at the University of Cape Town, and now onwards to Durham it seems, as she is already in Durham and now he is following it seems.

My old man lectured at Durham University in the 70's and seemed to enjoy the experience...

I don't know Durham well, save for a drunken overnight there in the distant past, and all I remember are girls with white thighs and very short skirts in the depths of an icy winter...

Good day in the workshop today, did a major glue-up, but when I unclamped it one piece had moved. contemplated leaving it and working around it, but conscience got the better of me, so managed ged to seep vinegar into it and open the joint with less swearing than anticipated. Removed as much glue as possible and flushed with water. Now awaiting advice from glue manufacturer as to whether there's anything else I should do before re-gluing.

Yes, indeedy! As one who spent seven years living in the general area, I can confirm that white thighs start at around Durham and continue up to Newcastle, irrespective of the weather, GG. It's a great part of the world for a fun night out though. People of all ages can go out and have a good time. I don't remember once seeing any unpleasantness, though I never did go up to the Bigg Market for a Phall curry though! :)

Morning folks. Nice day. Breezy and blazing sunshine which is drying everything out. He chucked another 3 hrs of lagoon water on the garden this morning. He has now gone walk about to cut thorn bushes to put against the fence to stop the cattle eating them. Just seen that in Zambia an ellie calf was being threatened by a croc so the mother stamped the croc to death. Never heard of that before.

Back from the Jabawocki shed.

Nurse administering gripe vaccine, reminded me to return mid November for my Covid booster jab. No appointment necessary, just my medical card.

Shall now take the rest of the day recovering.
