Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Morning all, clear blue sky today after a very windy night. Currently 15C, forecast max 22C. Will give the workshop another try today.

Was out chopping firewood in the yard, and some Canada Geese flew over.
That's at least a month early for their northward migration.

After a cool night of 14c, the temp for the day is guessed to be 22c and clear. The weather seems to be taking on its transition to Autumn, so as far as I
can tell all is right with the world.

Some numpty at RAF Support Command HQ had done that with paperclips, shortly before I arrived for my holding post.Failed to check the DofQ
The SNCO at the stores depot decided to take the numpty at his word, and three lorry loads turned up.
The drivers got a day out, the stores people got some exercise loading and unloading, the numpty got a scathing Annual Report, and everyone looked at the DoQs very carefully for at least a year.
Probably an economical decision by the SNCO in the long run.

Shouldn't Canada Geese in Canada just be Geese?Fox3WheresMyBanana wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:46 pmWas out chopping firewood in the yard, and some Canada Geese flew over.

Got the first of two dental implants topped of with a zirconia crown.
Feels weird after having a gap there for fifteen or so years.
Other crown to be installed in a few months.

My flock of geese included a Canada-goose cross-bred. Nice, intelligent bird.

Morning all. Supposed to be turning cold here at the weekend but today is mild, if grey.

Morning folks. Sun. Town day. Quite a few things to be done. Success so far.

Eye exam this morning, the usual after lunch. That's if I have time for lunch.

Ricardian-that is a fabulous picture. You live in a beautiful place. I hadn't realised you live that close to the harbour-wonderful location.
Dropped something on my foot yesterday-nothing broken, but it's throbbing like the dickens. Supposed to be raking leaves today-will still try. We seem to be having a horrible year for dropping leaves. I wouldn't mind, but they aren't our trees-neighbours' either side. It's a bugger.

The UK £0 annual car tax for electric cars becomes £158 in April 2025. My £0 annual car tax expires in July this year. Just retaxed the car online at £0 for another year. It now expires in March 2025 at which point I'll retax it for another year at £0 a few weeks before the expiry of £0 rate. Saved myself £158 by doing that. Gotta keep ahead of the game....

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Another nice sunny day on the Humber, the rain has gone and it is 12C so far with 14C possible. We don't have a tree in the garden but have a leaf count for a forest!! Mrs 1DC always moans about her petrol hybrid cars road tax being £158 while my diesel is only £30.
Whilst having coffee and a bacon sandwich at the cafe in me park last week it was interesting watching a large Canada goose slowly strutting up and down on the bank of the park lake while Mama and Daddy Swan swam slowly up and down parallel to him clearly giving the message "You aint coming in here, mate" I never saw the outcome but we don't have Canada geese in the lake, the only problem was I thought the goose would have to run across the lake to get to take off speed to go somewhere else?
My study is strangly clean and tidy, will take some getting used to..

Charlie One Six, I do that with my annual vehicle inspections in Spain. Book 'em in the last days of the year for which they are valid for the following month. In police road checks they accept an expired certificate if the test appointment has been made for the near future. That way I gain a year every twelve years. (The little Fiesta is 19 years old).

Independent today:
"Spending a lot of time on the computer may be linked to an increased risk of erectile dysfunction in men, researchers have said.
A study of more than 200,000 men indicates that for every additional 1.2 hours spent using a computer, the chances of experiencing erectile dysfunction increased by 3.57 times."
(But only in men, you'll notice)
