My friend & her dog arrive tomorrow from Nottingham to stay with me for a couple of weeks in order to escape the high temperatures in England - my forecast is for 16C with light rain & a moderate breeze which contrasts to hers which is 33C and a gentle breeze.
I know which we would prefer by far.
Although I was qauite happy with >40C in the Persian Gulf (Sharjah) when I was in my late teens I don't think I would be too happy nowadays as I approach my 80th birthday!

I find it unbelievable that a human can decide to kill a healthy walrus for some unintelligible reason.
I say they should have left it alone and let Darwin decide who survives.

Why is 35° in Teddington England hotter than 35° in Roses Catalunia.

Me too, they should have set up a large screen with camera feeds and clearly labelled it as a "Darwin Cam" so the rest of us could see it happen.

Still over 32C outside at 18:30 here. At least it's cooler than the dog show, where it probably got over 38C.

Kepler managed to pick up three Best of Breeds this weekend, so quite pleased at that. She's probably going to sleep all week though. Also got to meet one of our E-litter puppies who was brought along to see what she thought of dog shows. Totally laid back and not at all concerned, and enjoying meeting people and dogs, a bit like her mother at that age. Hopefully we'll see this one in competition.

Uncomfortably humid here. Off to Headcorn this morning. Scattered thunderstorms forecast for later today, but only a 30% likelihood with a more threatening 40% later on...

Morning, all. Slept eight hours last night, my MiFi tells me. Getting used to the too-narrow bed (new one on order) and the trains. Now for the thunderstorms...

Here at Headcorn ludicrously early watching the crows hop around and the sky diving gypsies arrive. Pleasantly cool further south of home, 6/8 high cirrus. Foggier towards the coast.

There be ice in them there high clouds, little rainbows showing up in the early morning sun.

Morning folks. Nice day but cold wind. A S.A. couple arrived at the safari camp yesterday towing a house behind them. They got stuck three times on the track down to the camp. This is nothing compared to the tracks in the parks. Deep loose sand. They will be going nowhere. Probably used to Kruger with tarred roads. Lack of research there.

Happy choppering GG. How many more hours to go until you get your ticket.

Better, or fitter looking bunch of meat bombs here today, clad in specific coloured shirts.Would guess ex-army. Whatever the case they need to avoided like the plague in the air. The turboprop sits under cover though. Early doors still.

@Ex-A - 20 hrs to go I have been averaging 1 hour a month since the lock down ended. I am chilled out about it all. Just renewed my medical and have managed to get 14 hours fixed wing in in the last month too.

Dining today in Dishoom, St Martins Lane. A symbolic glass raised to Capetonian over the Biranyani and Masala Prawns. Mango Khalfi for desert.

Due to a signal failure at Strawberry Hill, no trains to disturb the silence chez OFSO, until a Chinook HC6 over flew us just now rattling the crockery and my filings...

In the hands of a good Saffer, a Hind can be a winner from the pilot's cockpit to the re-engineering of the machine...

A few years ago, we experienced several extremely low-flying Chinooks (we are in a military low-flying route for fixed-wing aircraft due to the proximity of scheduled approaches to EGNT being crossed - they underfly the approaches).

I contacted the MOD low-flying hotline (out of interest - not to complain as we enjoy seeing the fast jets and fat Alberts) and was informed that whereas fixed-wing aircraft are controlled to above a minimum height, transiting elicoptas were cleared down to ground level. Shortly afterwards, guidelines to avoid spooking horses and other animals were issued.

Trains back running this morning but it's cool enough to have the doors shut. Chinooks are evening visitors.
A short rain shower yesterday. Not enough.

Humid, overcast with hit and miss (mostly missing) showers! Uninspiring weather! Even Turner would have been apt to put away his easel and sulk over a cup of tea in kitchen in such an intemperate climate!

Even my better half's Fitbit is sulking, steadfastly refusing to synchronise with her phone, and this has become the crisis du hour! Sigh...
