Morning folks. Nice day but chilly start. 38 bats again. We think the increase is from small ones coming out from under mother's wings. Up to the safari camp camp to interrogate wheedle out from, the company CEO what is going on with the change over of management. This is our local pub we have a right to know. Not driving 40 kms to the next nearest pub.

We were talking to one of their guides yesterday nice S.A. NR. He was asking for our advice on getting a PPL.
'Yes, Madam, I am drunk, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly.' Sir Winston Churchill.

Isn’t it a bit warm for IKEA assembling or have you hired a punkawallah :D

When all else fails, read the instructions.

20C at the moment, forecast rising to 28C. Masses of Swallows flying around and sunning themselves on the roof. Never seen so many, counted 23 on the roof and there must be another dozen or so swooping around.

Another day as the merciless sun beats down on the hard baked earth, dotted with the last vestiges of brown burned grass. Overhead the vultures circle, spiraling in the vault of the furnace coloured sky. Here on the earth only the infernal hiss of the cicadas and the distant, and constant pounding of the drums (or perhaps those idiot builders up the road), trouble one's heat induced fever dream... =))

Actually...

EGSS 100820Z AUTO 04006KT 010V070 9999 NCD 22/15 Q1027

Another warm day with naught but the faintest cirrus to distract one's view of the sky.

Pleasant but more African than British weather methinks...

Good Moaning All,

Guess 32c, currently 29c 53% sort of cloudless grey/blue.

Some splendid pink bodies around.

The Privit Horsepitil in AGP say they have found SM's file and are returning it by courier. We will have to give the courier 15€.
Strikes me we are paying the courier.

15€ probably less than the fuel.

Cool here today, up to about 16C. Funeral today of an old friend who died aged 94. He had dementia, but not too badly.
Unlikely anyone here would know him, but on the off chance, Jim Paice was ex RAAF instrument tech 1951~60.

Vultures circling? We've got Chinooks. Never realised how noisy they are. Drown out the sound of the A-380's struggling off to Dubai....

Both vaccinated with Covid booster shots today. Number Five! Long discussions in getting mine as don't have a NHS number, plus all those weird Catalan shots we got,. Finally agreed not to mention the ones from the veterinary or the ones from Nigerian oil salesmen. For the first time we done got certificate cards. Name, DOB, manufacturer and batch number on one side and "Best in Show" on the reverse.

The .com site/domain authentication certificate has expired or has been misconfigured.
This server couldn't prove that it's www.ops-normal.com; its security certificate is from sentry.corp.ventraip.net.au. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection.

When we had the big fire up the hill they would fly directly over our house on the way back to refill. Very loud.

I accidentally trained the dogs to run outside when they hear one because I was trying to get a good picture, so I was rushing out every time I heard one.

All this Chinook chat rubs the wound of opportunity lost this year raw. Good friend invited me to Odiham for lunch and then a flight in a Chinook to London and back. I had to cancel close to the date as we had a work related crisis. He sent me some photos...

Overcast, spots of rain, 3.6°C, expecting 7°C.

Rubbish and recycling collection this morning.
House Fairy comes at 9am.
To town afterwards for paying bills and etc.
And with the morn, those angel faces smile...

Knackered tonight.
Went into Derby to do a few church-chores this a.m. Then over lunch,
She: "Damn. I forgot to turn the air con off."
He <Sigh> "Oh well, I need to see one of the tenants anyway. I'll go back." That was most of the afternoon gone, but a useful meeting.
Then at 21: 55 a phone call from The Operatic "Jim, the fire alarm has gone off just as we were leaving the building. It wasn't us, really."
Yeah, right.
So off down the A38 again. Reset the fire alarm. Deffo finger trouble. Gits. but they did stick around to help me patrol the building, especially when I told them that it had been insecure while the alarm was sounding... security locks disabled.

A Zebedee moment now, I fancy.

(Might be a really boring and totally pointless snippet to you, but felt very close to a day's work for an 84 year-old...)
