Morning folks.

Presently 24c. high somewhere in the 30s this afternoon. Highest temp of the day appears to be at 20.25.

Gave up attempting to make a meal at home last night and went off to the local Indian.

Morning all. Slept better last night in this temporary (but brand new) bed until the real, wide one arrives. 14 weeks delivery time.

Morning folks. Another nice day. Hippos noisy all night. 14 weeks for a bed OFSO! Where is it coming from, the moon? You are on the outskirts of London not in the middle of the bush in Botswana. In fact we could get a bed delivered to town here from anywhere in S.A. in days. We have a company here who has a truck come every day from Johannesburg and their depot there will arrange for collection of items from anywhere in the country. Also they pay for said item upon pick up and you pay for the item along with the delivery charge. Got our new carpet this way.

Good Moaning all,

27c heavy haze, poor viz, guess 32c.

It's Friday

Most of my Guvmint pension winging it's way to Spain. Rate not great this month.

Tomato Jam to finish today, forgot the Limes. Dunno why Limes are not grown in Spain it seems.

Just had a Goog, seems that is rubbish, Spain is the largest producer of Limes in Europe.

Monday would appear to be a normal trading day for all multi national stores, excluding Mercadona, Wodrick

So in future such days shall be referred to as a Mercadona Monday.

Many people appear to have taken a bridge into the holiday weekend. Carrefour only had two cashiers operating for the first hour, so management went on the tills. Having said that not too many customers around.

As for limes in Spain, there are plenty in packs of four in Aldi.

Winter wood, for the burning of, has been ordered this morning for delivery on 23August, at same price as last year.

We have had thunder rumblings and a few spots of rain in the last hour. However whatever caused it appear to have made it over the mountains and moved inland.

The local Mucky is announcing normal Monday on the PA.
It does seem like a bridge as the place is packed.
Limes it was the growth of them not availability, the packs are commonly available.

Humid again 30c and 58% now.

You remind me. Many years ago we tried a new bed in the show room, liked it, and ordered it. When it arrived it was nothing like the one in the show room for comfort.

Back at the show room we demanded the one we had tried. They blustered, said it had been used etc. We insisted and the swap was done. Had it years.

Telegraph, love it:
Stuart Nash, the tourism minister, explained what type of holidaymaker he wants to welcome into the country.

He said the country is seeking “high quality” foreign tourists who have big money to spend over those on a shoestring budget who won’t pump money into the economy.

Instead he preferred to see New Zealand as one of the top three aspirational destinations for the “world’s most discerning travellers”
What do the Kiwis who cater for the low end dried noodle backpackers think of this?

For months we have been trying to identify a bird which we hear before dawn. We have got the little bugger it is this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiery-necked_nightjar Fantastic song which is supposed to be: 'good-lord-deliver-us' which is a bit of a worry. The species should be in this area but not in the bush. I guess that it has taken to our 'false' tropical garden. :YMHUG:

Bloody gas bottle ran out half way through cooking lunch and no staff to carry the things. Always the case. Anyway this 19 kgs gas bottle has lasted us for 4 months so not too bad. Solar oven and solar power for the air fryer helps.

Sad news! When I went to feed my 17-year-old, green-eyed, pure white cat Surrey this morning I found that she had died during the night. She was stretched out, looking quite peaceful. My friend and her partner came when I phoned and we buried Surrey in a quiet corner of the garden.
Best way to go - no fuss, no stressful trips on the ferry to/from the vet. I shall miss her, the last link with my late wife who died 8 years ago.

Sorry to hear it Ricardian. The loss of a good friend is a sad thing.
My necessaries are embark'd: farewell. Adieu! I have too grieved a heart to take a tedious leave.

Easterly wind less than 6kts, perfect conditions for the Haar drifting in and, even though we are about 8 miles from the coast, sure enough we have suddenly gone from 8/8 blue to sky obscured and down to 16C.

I'm sorry for that, Ricardian. Surrey must have been a beautiful cat, and with such a pretty name.
And with the morn, those angel faces smile...
