Buenas
Lovely blue day, presently 16c, high of 20c expected which seems on the low side.
Been for a wander in town with Ed and bought lottery ticket for next two weeks, as I shall be in the UK next Saturday.
Very quiet in town, long distance buses not busy and very few people heading for the station and the train to the airport.

Wife went to Waitrose yesterday, bought a meal for two, fish pie, vegetables and dessert, profiterols, £12 and was excellent. Washed down with Mirabeau gin (+T) on special offer. Wish we could (home) eat so cheaply in Spain.

At safari camp. A Botswana Nurses Union conference taking place. Absolute *****. No structure no one standing up to speak they are just all chatting at once. An excuse for a paid weekend away.

Good morning all,
19c and the soothsayer predicts 23c, he also predicts a cloudy day, not the blue dome we have. I can't get the F1 live timing web site (which I pay for) to work on any device.

A black Rolls Royce SUV with number plates HG (nothing else) has just driven down Teddington High St. Followed by a security car. Any sleuths out there know to whom it might belong?

Terrified by my believing British media about Weather, I brought loads of warm clothing to Teddington. Haven't worn any of it.... Nights aren't as cold as in Catalunia, and what they call a "gale" here would be a gentle breeze on the Pyrenees.

Heading for 39c today, been in the 30c/36c mark for the last four days. From what I can make out with the temps being this high well into March that the
climate appears to be lagging a month or two behind where it normally is supposed to be, what say you, is this the climate change they talk about?

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Yes, warming up already. Similar temps forecast here. As I understand it from a working knowledge of atmospheric physics, we are likely to see more extremes - hotter and longer summers, colder and longer winters (obviously not in the same year), more intense storms, longer droughts and the range of tropical cyclones extending further from the equator. These phenomena are mainly driven by increased average oceanic temperatures.

Seems to me that the weather for any given date stays about the same, give or take two weeks either way - basing that on my observations and memories of first frosts, first flowerings, snowfalls etc.bob2s wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 10:17 pmHeading for 39c today, been in the 30c/36c mark for the last four days. Blue dome skies, 21°C, may reach 23°C;
man-across-the street operating some kind of buzzy machinery and now hammering something;
offended a number of butterflies when I backed up the drive just before and brushed past the Buddleia bush, may have to get a smaller car.

Went to check on neighbour's dog yesterday after I couldn't find her. She was there, so I don't know if she'd got out and returned, or had been sleeping upstairs and hadn't heard me call her. Anyway, I fed her, played with her, took her for a walk and same again today. She seems happy - probably glad of a break from their children.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
I think it's safe to say OFSO, that our benighted media, having little to scare us with post-Covid, have now embarked on a programme of 'weather terrorism', whereby if a snowflake is about to fall on Braemar, it means that the rest of the UK will be enveloped in half a metre of snow. (Puts on tinfoil hat). I am highly suspicious of general weather forecasting, which given the tools available to the Met Office, should be highly accurate, but is now exaggerated out of all proportion by the media. I watched the Anglia TV forecast the other night for the region, and it bore no resemblance to reality. Perhaps this is being encouraged by government to keep us in a state of fear.

'morning all,
19c, scattered, soothsayer has it as blue dome, 21c.
Normal Sunday, floors, ritual lunch, dunno, GP at 1800. I don't know what RB pay Adrian Newey but it is not enough.
Car a rocket this year.

Senior and junior daughters coming to visit their mum today. Although it's Mother's day, I suspect it's because we're having roast beef and Yorkshire Pud for lunch may be an alternative reason for their visit. Will be nice to see the girls.

Mother's Day (in May in the USA) is an invention of an American lady who was so appalled when it was taken over by the greetings card companies that she renamed it "Hallmark Sunday".4mastacker wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 12:45 pmSenior and junior daughters coming to visit their mum today. It is Mothering Sunday in the UK.
