They’re on the ball early in Florida today :-bd
As they say in Afrikaans, "Sy is nie onder ’n kalkoen uitgebroei nie!!"

Literal translation - "She wasn't born of a turkey!"

Meaning - "she's very sharp..." ;)))

Walked into the government car testing centre at the appointed time and lady behind the counter said "Hi Rxxx, you're in lane two". How the hell did she know my Christian name?

So many people there, 40 minutes wait, but very friendly atmosphere.

Wife's 20-year-old Ford Fiesta not only passed the inspection but the guy said " estupendo" as he put the sticker on the window. Her 2003 car passed the 2023 emissions test despite always being filled with cut-price 95 octane.

I'm always twitchy about emissions test it's just about the only thing you have no idea about, and unless your mechanic has some decent gear neither does he.

Took the car to get a wash - nice to see the true colour again.

Saw the thumb-nail of that DM article so gave it a miss - thought it was a piece about another inflation/deflation modification involving Miss Katie Price.
It's always my fault - SWMBO

Emissions all computerised here. Tester sits in car, holds revs at different levels for different times. Takes 5-10 minutes.

One thing's for sure. The car's in a better state than I am.

It is here too. Think the same company Spainwide. But it's so straightforward I don't understand those who pay the garage to take their car.

High winds caused power cuts on Wednesday. Team came out from Kirkwall to fix one problem and were on their way back when another fault occurred; they fixed the second fault and set off home when yet another fault caused their return yet again. My power came back on at 2pm but my internet has been down since then, this morning a nice man from SSE talked me through the steps to restore normal connectivity. More high winds forecast for the next couple of weeks.

However, with Ford Motor Company intent on committing suicide, they are letting workers go and didn't have personal today to take my car.

Mt Washington, in New Hampshire, is a bit of an oddity in meteorological terms.
Currently, it is -42C with sustained winds of 160kph, for a windchill of -75.
By contrast, Nome AK, is a balmy -16/-16 (no wind).
Even Alert, Nunavut, is only -34/-39, 817km from the North Pole at 82N.
Actually, the windchill outside my door is about -39 at the mo.
