What happened to the philanthropists in the early 20th century who built libraries, art galleries, etc?

I must admit to doing a double-take on that!

I see that the SAR S92 helicopter from Sumburgh was airborne from Stronsay airfield about 30 minutes ago and looks to be on a direct track to either ABZ or Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. I trust our Stronsay correspondent is fit and well.

Watching from here... God speed, whoever it is.

It's landed at ABZ so they will be met by an ambulance on stand at Bristows. We were only permitted to take very serious cases direct to the hospital in Aberdeen, otherwise they were taken to the airport as has just happened.

An Orkney island adjacent to Stronsay is called Eday. On the FR24 map I happened to see tonight that the airport is named as Eday London Airport. That really is pushing things!

Note to those unfamiliar with the Orkneys (and indeed all the Western and Northern Isles); a kettle for tea counts as "and everything!".

It would not automatically include heating, carpet, curtains, or soft seating.

Or tea. Bring your own.

I have to go out this afternoon for an appointment: used to be a 6km round trip from home;
now they don't come to my area so requires a 130km round trip on state highway.
This is for an appointment that may take 15 minutes... 8-|

We're often tempted to live somewhere remote but sadly the distance from essential facilities puts us off, so it's a case of staying close to the city.

Afternoon all, 10/15 today.Off to doc this morning, diastolic bp low (40), systolic higher than normal for me. Temperature 38C. Various tests, first results show a bacterial infection, more results tomorrow a.m. Feeling a little better after 1st antibiotic capsule.
My usual doctor was unavailable, and it's her last day before she's away for two weeks. Saw a young doctor whom I've seen a couple of times before, he's very thorough and I'm quite happy to see him. I'm beginning to think younger doctors are better after seeing the difference between these ones and our now retired previous GP's thoroughness. Maybe young doctors and older nurses are the go.

After yesterday's projective vomiting and defaecation before we left house, trip home uneventful except aircraft cold. No idea what caused the sudden illness but never had anything bad as that before. Heating in UK flat needed some persuasion to come on but finally...
Today set-up scan for treatment of prostate, tomorrow new combi boiler to be installed in flat.

I'm glad you've seen the dr, Hydromet, hope you feel better soon.
