Thanks guys :YMHUG:

Glad to see you safe and sound Fox3 :YMHUG:

Went for dinner at a restaurant down on the bay. Sat outside as it was a beautiful evening. Hard to believe that across the other side of the Gulf there is total devastation. Watched some aerial footage of the Fort Myers area-ghastly. My friend, who lives in Daytona, was optimistic that they wouldn't get much of it on the Atlantic side. It went right over the top of them. Waiting to hear from her-probably be a while. She won't have power or internet any time soon. She lost her roof when she lived here during Ivan. I think she was hoping for a quieter time across the state.

Quilted anorak over sweater this morning. Out shopping, French everywhere. Why. Normally crawled home to their own country by this period of the year.

Family lunch with D1, visiting from CO, together with D2 & her partner & their daughter, D1's in-laws, their other son, his partner & their daughter. very civilised, with multiple small courses. Had a tasting board of four wines - 2 whites, 1 rosé & 1 red - followed by a very nice red.
Intermittent rain all day.

Isn't gravity marvellous?
Without it, pouring liquid from one container to another would be fraught.
What's more, we would all float away into space.

I adhere to the ground with the adhesive effect of stepping on (and in) dog turds deposited by French-owned Yorkshire terriers. There is a law prohibiting male French citizens appearing in public in any country in the world, without a small yappy dog on a lead.

The horse that lives with the donkeys at the top of the hill seemed not well yesterday. SM rang his owner last night (WhatsApp methinks) and he was here before I de-pitted at 0830, very early indeed for Paco.
He called a vet, unheard of, and shortly after it was decided there was only one course of action and he was euthanised.
He was about 29 which I gather from Goog is good for a wild horse.

They got a digger up and have buried him in his favourite spot. That is either compassionate or he didn't want to pay for disposal. The cynic favours the latter.

Long day out at Headcorn, but worth it to see Kent from the air in the beautiful autumn twilight. At times one can really revel in the beauty of this country and today's autumnal light and warmth rejuvenated my happy streak. Driving wasn't much fun as the muffler on the exhaust spat out a chunk and I became an instant boy racer. Booked the car in to have the exhaust replaced. All a bit embarrassing.

WA this afternoon from our rather nice estate agent. Can she bring clients up to view our house? Me: what nationality? Agent: French. Me: no. Any other nationality, but not French. Well, if they were hauling a cart loaded with gold bars, then yes: otherwise, NO.

Is it your intention to sell your dwelling - or not?

We spend half a day getting the house clean and tidy and then French come in, usually after us waiting all day, they arrive way after the agreed time, spend ten minutes looking, and then cock a snook at our house. What ever a snook is....

Never have that problem with Dutch, English, or Germans.

Answer to the above question is we are too busy to have time to sell it, when selling it involves being p*ssed around by buyers.

Had that happen to me once; pictured the neighbours twitching their curtains and pursing their lips as the car rumbled noisily past. :))

Back from church; while I was there, low cloud/murk arrived with a chilly wind and the day became quite cold and gloomy. Mr Sun trying to peep through now.
Stopped by the park on the way home: observed a charm of goldfinches, twenty or thirty of them, foraging for something on the short grass.

The first day of daylight saving has arrived, and this morning will be taken up with changing the clocks to reflect the gain of an hour. The weather this
morning reflects the change with a bright blue sky but they are guessing the prospect of a cloudy day to follow.
