Morning folks. All the best HF. Did town yesterday lots of cattle on the roads. Power cut at midnight last night. Repaired battery back in today so hopefully will be OK now. Next weekend is end of the month (pay day) and President's day. We suspect very noisy on the lagoon with booze cruises. Planning on a 4 day safari up north. Haven't been anywhere in nearly two years. Hope to go to a new camp that we haven't visited before. We have been to the area which is very nice. Just a 30 min flight in.

Best wishes, handsfree.

5.8 is a reasonable-sized quake, Alison. Not good when buildings start shedding bricks etc.

Best wishes to HF and Billy for the next few days. Today is the first day of Autumn in the top half, which will lead to the annual, when are you turning on the central heating discussion with MrsWoody :(

Prepping living room for chimbley sweep. Last time he was very tidy. Then must go up the forest to gather starter twigs as it's already chilly enough evenings for the wood stove.

Hola,
Yesterday we were threatened with a deluge, nada, blue all day, bit breezy though peaked at 51 km/hr.
Last night we were promised a further deluge, this threat has been reconsidered and we are to expect light rain (65%) from a clear blue sky.

Best wishes and a satisfactory outcome *HF* and *Billy*.

My treat for the day is twofold, this morning I move the sofa so that SM can clean behind/under it and it's off to the fang fettler this afternoon.

Deep Joy.

All the very best HF for you & Billy's procedure, hoping you are here to wish us Happy Friday on the (1st?)

Chimney sweeps, I thing I read of OFSOs fire in 2019, and started to search for a chimney sweep here (not real easy in a place like this!)

Anyway found one, he said ours was really clean & in good condition because we burn very well dried and cured wood logs....first 'd cleaned it in 16 years....well you don't know things like this here.

And we don't 'fire' every night in winter either....but he gave us something for the insurance company should something ever happen...it is a real grey area here

When we moved in here aspart of our renovation we had a new log stove fitted replacing the cassette fire which was declared BER.
The log fire was quite difficult to run, sometimes going out when it had plenty of good dry wood.
After talking to the fire shop they recommended cleaning the chimney and we got a couple of recommended Brits to come and do it.
They promised a no mess job. Their idea of no mess differed markedly from that of SM!

Next time we got a little Spanish guy who was massively thorough and left the place as he found it, wonderful.

The fire had never burned so well too.

Must get him back soon.

A chill and windy walk this evening. Last year we jumped into winter on September 26. This year it's earlier.
Well the Eagles did go South nearly a month early ...................

Best wishes HF, haste ye back!!

First day of autumn and there was a bit of condensation on the conservatory windows this morning - tweren't there yesterday, t'is a bit cooler this morn.

I see one of the leaders of Insulate Britain (the idiots who think it's clever to walk onto the M25 and stop the traffic) stormed off his interview on Good Morning Britain because it wasn't going his way because he was getting a bit of a savaging off Susannah Reid and Richard Madeley. It really went south for him when he started comparing the actions of his fellow idiots with Churchill.

If you live near a Sainsburys, they are doing 25 % off 6 bottles of wine.

Best wishes HF - hope Billy behaves himself.

Wo-hoo! Just booked a 90 minute walk-round presentation and test drive of the all electric Polestar 2 in Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon. Really looking forward to that - the motoring press are unanimous in its praise and I suspect the long range single electric motor version will be my next buy. Unfortunately the test drive is on the two motor version. 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds for that version and is something I don't need at 76 years old. 0-62mph in 7.4 seconds is quite adequate, only a second more than my Audi A6 Allroad, and several thousand pounds cheaper than the dual motor version.

A good morning so far. Our repaired battery is back and working well at the moment. Satellite internet folk pitched up, gave us a fist full of used notes and took away our dish and box. Gave us back 50% of new cost. Just awaiting the squirrel sharp shooter to get rid of our last two.

Sweep turned up half an hour early and took only 30 minutes. Taped plastic sheeting up and left the living room immaculate. We looked at the ash, mostly fine grey ash such as one gets handed at a Crematorium plus a couple of big melted black lumps, perhaps only now detached after the 2019 fire. Last time he had trouble detaching the steel plate at the top that acts as a flame trap, this time it went ok. €85 plus I added a tip 'cos he's such a nice man.

Second day in a row that I was able to open doors and windows to let in 70o F outside air.
Only get a few hours as high is headed for 100o F.
Won't miss the heat but will miss the light.
