What is the cartoon you like the most

#1 Post by Rwy in Sight » Wed May 18, 2022 4:41 am

As I switched back to Snoopy as a pilot as an avatar and got a couple of comments, I would like to ask our fellow members here, if they had/have a favourite cartoon when young (or even now).

Feel free to answer using pictures or even adding a short comment about your preference.

Back in the late sixties there was an Bugs Bunny Road Runner show on TV ,it became the highest rating show even though it was on at 7PM on a Saturday night.

Not really a cartoon, but my favourite was Ivor the Engine with the dragons in the firebox.

Another vote for Tom and Jerry. Can't wait for my grand-daughter to be old enough to see it, so I can get out my box set again.
Sent from my tatty old Windoze PC.

Just watched Bob2s's Roadrunner clip above. Mrs. H wanted to know what I was laughing so stupidly at.

I was watching the clip prior to posting it,was quizzed as to why I was laughing and saying poor bugger throughout the cartoon. The animator/storyline people
certainly had a wonderful sense of humour in the various ways to foil the coyote's plans, the world needs more humour instead of gloom and doom of social media.

Thanks for the answers. I loved Snoopy for the ideas and lines of most of the kids, and Donald Duck. Plus there was a series of a small cartoons with a lazy person and a very rich family who tried to get rid of their money and always ended up with more...

I used to use a 4 hour tape of all the Road Runner cartoons to teach the Laws of Motion in physics.
We would first work out what the 'Cartoon Laws of Physics' were, such as "Wile E Coyote never falls until he accepts he's going to fall". Then we'd work out what the real Laws were.
Very successful from an educational point of view, especially as the kids (now adults) at reunions would gleefully recount them many years later.

What I like about the Road Runner stuff is all the creative ways they thought up for Wile E to screw up.

It was marvelous for education. By about cartoon #20, the kids could work out what would happen after the latest ACME miracle RR-catcher was strapped on.

Used to like the Deputy Dawg cartoons. Noted a while ago that they are avilable in a DVD box set.

As indeed are a lot of the old Cartoon series that played back in the 60's.

Of course there was Fat Freddy's Cat...

Fat Freddy's Cat (for all those that never went through a hippy phase in the 60's and 70's)... =))

I liked Hanna-Barbera's Top Cat

Opening and closing sequences here (1:26)

NZ television used to say goodnight to itself at close-down with this well-loved piece of animation (1:18)

My favourite single strip-cartoon:

Spirit
And with the morn, those angel faces smile...
