Phonetic alphabet
I found it comes in more and more useful in these days of international call-centres - until today when giving my postcode as Kilo Tango

Oh, well

The Italian version is city names in Italy, eg A-Ascoli R-Roma N-Napoli etc. I have no idea what it might be in German or Serbo-Croat.

Re: Phonetic alphabet
Singapore non-aviators used primarily Countries, or Cities if they couldn't think of a Country, when I was there, A for Albania, B for Bulgaria, C for Canada, but not always the same, no approved list published, seemed to be at the operators geographical expertise. Can't remember what was used for X ? I also worked with ex- WWII pilots who used what was in use when they started flying, Able, Baker, etc. Occasionally get corrected by telephone operators who prefer their own ideas. Guess it doesn't matter so long as they catch the correct word ?
Don't remember anyone using Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogog tho' ?

Proud to say I can
Re: Phonetic alphabet
I thought it was O for the garden wall.
Had a school teacher, ex 7Div AIF, who did the whole A for 'orses, B for mutton... etc. I've forgotten most of them, but some were very clever.

And me but my pronunciation was criticiced by a sheep sha**er.
I have had people write down the whole word instead of the letter.

Re: Phonetic alphabet
One I remember was S for Williams. Took a long tine to work that one out.
