...and apparently Beckham was offered a chance to queue jump.

He is the People's Prince after all! My opinion of him has gone up a very small smidgeon.

Charles received several heads of government at Buck House. Trudie and St Jacinda have placed their other hand on top - is that a dominance thing or just trying to be over commiserating?

That just confirms that a picture is better than a thousand words.

Watching Youtube live of the funeral inside the Abbey showing people already seated in place 90 minutes before the start of proceedings keeping themselves hydrated.
I wonder how tolerable will be their bladders . . .

Managed to get it on BBC iPlayer. To sign up they ask you if you have a TV licence. I will watch this in the future.

US president is well back in the congregation. I would not like to have been the seating planner.

Boris not in Morning Suit.

He was never going to be in uniform for the funeral. For the vigil HMK made an exception.

Tea and biscuits Fox. Beers by the pool here.

Everything seems to have gone remarkably well. Had an expectation that some group of nutters from the Middle East would try for the extra publicity. So massive congrats to MI5 and the Metrop. Police.

Very moving service screened free on two channels here. Well done all concerned, especially the matelots pulling the gun carriage. After such a long slow march some were visibly flagging near the end, especially the Duke of Gloucester, but a good effort at 78. Great to see a female officer in charge of the gun carriage. Boris looked like a sack of spuds as usual. Lots of people holding hands - ah, bless, how sweet - but better example set by Macron and his bird, she holding his arm in a seemly manner.

All very moving. I had to turn off BBC1 after the service and watch it without commentary on iPlayer as Huw Edwards was doing my head in. There were a few matelots with the Submarine Dolphins insignia, including I think, the female officer in charger of the gun carriage. A nice touch for uniformity that the matelots cap tallies were all "Royal Navy" rather than their individual ship names.

Huw might have done some research before his commentary. Agree he was useless and voice often faded to inaudible mumble.

Just SO grateful the BBC did not provide a 'talking heads' commentary on the service.

My ex-wife's comment from South Africa summed up the occasion well I thought.
The Queen's funeral was sad and dignified, the service simple yet beautiful, perfectly suited to her and what she deserved. The dedication of the British people over these past 10 days, queuing for 24 hours just to pay their respects was very touching.

CBC hired Dan Snow to do the lead here, who did a very good job, with his occasional protocol faux pas corrected by Ann MacMillan, the recently retired CBC lead London journalist.
The choice is easy to understand, she's his mom.
They did the right thing and shut up during the transitions.
