Cooker Woes

#1 Post by OFSO » Thu Oct 12, 2023 7:16 pm

A few months ago we (I) bought a new cooker, model Beko, a product of the Ottoman Empire. It has some strange characteristics. The front left burner will light no matter who turns the knob and pushes it in, but will only stay alight if a man does it. My wife is treated with contempt.
Today the large middle burner refused to light at all, after howling for some days. I removed the gas jet, couldn't see anything wrong, blew thru it and replaced it. Works perfectly now. I wonder if a dust particle was stuck in the jet. Out in the street where the gas meter lives there's a filter in the gas line. When we had trouble (still do in fact) with the central heating, the gas man unscrewed the filter and tapped out what looked like particles from Bennu. Hmm. Beko, Bennu.
