I have a mail from Kath, *Ibbie's wife.
*Ibbie* (Dave Ward) died in a Nursing Home yesterday afternoon.
For the moment that is all I know.
Another success for the Spanish Health Service.

I have asked for a date for the funeral which, if normal Spanish practice is followed, will not be long.
A short hold is possible to allow those who need to travel, his son for example, to attend.

If possible I intend to go and will give Kath hard copy of your condolences, an e-mail does not seem to do it somehow.

I have yet to get funeral information.

Thanks for that, Wods

Good news, too, about the implication that his son might be there, since he has not been enjoying the most wonderful health himself.

Difficult though it is ,you are going to have to ask the family again about the arrangements.

Normally in this part of Spain the burial or cremation is within 24 hours of death (a hold -over from when Spain was Muslim) with a memorial service some days later. I've been shocked several times when I've missed both for someone I knew.

Can be longer down here, up to four days and longer on request to allow relatives to travel.
And there has been the double holiday with a weekend.

I have recently received an e-mail from Mrs Ibbie in which she apologises for not contacting me sooner.
She has only just read her e-mails.

Ibbie's funeral was on Wednesday, sounds chaotic, hearse in an accident and Ibbie to the crematorium in a transit van 1 hr late.
Celebrant had to retire for a while with a coughing fit, and a power cut, all good stuff.

She thanks you all for the comforting messages from all over the world (I added your location if known).
