They are also going ahead with Brexit (admittedly in a very poor and half hearted manner) despite opposition, and what a mess they are making of it.

I still favour 'Boris Island'.

Boris Island= Eerything BoJo touches turns to *****. Fantasy Island, the Channel Dridge, the bridge over the Thames, new London buses. 350 million a week for the NHS (possibly, but more likely for his own pockets) Not even thinking about so-called Russian nerve gas. The buffoon is a complete liability. Unfortunately MayBot doesn't have the guts to give him the boot

Seems that the 3rd runway at LHR has been approved. Boris says that he will lie down in front of the bulldozers. Any volunteer drivers?

Actually there was always a third runway at LHR. It was NE orientation. Used it a few times diverting due to strong cross winds at BZN. The RAF used to go crazy with me because of the cost. Most of my pax were for London so they were happy. We got a night in London so we were happy as well. Stuff the administrators.

Slightly off thread but on a Royal we were cleared into there at night during the jet ban. Sat there for three hours awaiting the appointed hour for take off 07.00? Called for start up and taxy at 10 to. Pile of transatlantic traffic behind us got cleared to take off at 2 mins to and got a massive fine. Didn't come off my pay cheque. What was I supposed to do, hold everyone else up? Got an interview at high level for that one. They understood my position.

From lying down in front of the bulldozers, to f***ing off so that he doesn’t have to vote, spineless bastard ~X(
Boris Johnson has said quitting over the issue of Heathrow expansion would "achieve absolutely nothing".
The foreign secretary is under fire for missing a key Commons vote later on whether to approve a new £14bn runway.
Mr Johnson, who is on an overseas trip, told constituents he would continue to oppose the runway and doubted it would be built, the Evening Standard said.
MPs are expected to approve the plan later but a senior Labour figure said it could "block" it if was in power.
The Heathrow expansion is forecast to cost about £14bn, and is likely to lead to hundreds of homes being demolished in the nearby villages of Longford, Harmondsworth and Sipson.
A new runway, which was approved by ministers earlier this month, would increase Heathrow's capacity from 85.5 million passengers to 130 million.

Show me a politician (living) that does have a spine. Maybe the other Boris?

It would be poetic justice to get our friends from Sicily to 'accidentally' bury Boris in the foundations, preferably under a touchdown zone so there will be no sleep for him.

I reckon Tewesa would turn a Nelson's eye.

No, in the name of a progressive democracy it is vital to persuade Boris, the third rwy in necessary.

The fight to stop the third runway at London Heathrow is not over yet.

If HAL use the same project team that they’re using for Central Tunnel work( 3 years so far), it won’t be done until about 2050 ~X(

Given that Boris originally opposed it with his "lie in front of a bulldozer" comment, he probably wouldn't lift a finger to save it.

The appeal court judgement is wrong - look at the emissions due to all those stacked aircraft waiting for a landing slot and see how much they'd save by being able to get straight down. The way to do it is to build the damn thing and put restrictions on any increase in the number of flights.

and put restrictions on any increase in the number of flights.
- will never happen, so
all those stacked aircraft waiting for a landing slot and see how much they'd save by being able to get straight down
will simply continue and probably increase.

If you're trying to get the runway built then it's a perfectly valid argument. Not having the runway is a hard limit, agreeing to limit numbers is something that can be subject to creep later. Of course, the opponents know this, which is why they're trying to prevent it being built.

Well this is a convincing argument in favour of a third runway at LHRhttps://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-8053 ... oorer.html

It's made me view things from a different perspective. :-?

The Government should now get behind the reopening and development of Manston (Kent International), especially for freight operations.
Connections to the motorway network already exist and it is possible to build a rail connection.
In the meantime, get on with the second runway at Gatwick.

Not this one again. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... acity.html

Now scientists have come up with it. Have they ever flown an aircraft. Where will the ILS be, on a tow truck tearing along in front of you? What about the stress on the undercarriage as you go around, around and around. Turn the M25 into the London runway. With the four lanes each side you could have M25L and M25R. Watch out for the speed cameras though.

Is it April the 1st or what.
