May I humbly suggest the first unread link be placed on the topic page next to the subject? If it can be done without ripping apart the code, of course.

Doesn't it do that already.

If the little dubree at the far left hand edge of a topic listing in a circle is coloured brown it indicates there are multiple unread postings. Click on it and it should take you to the first unread posting. Whereas the little square dubree to the right of that if coloured brown indicates one unread posting. Click on it and it should take you to to the last posting. These are right up against the topic subject as requested. Give them ago.

Separate to both of those is a little dubree just after the authors name in the last poster box. Click on that and it takes to the last posting. Further to all of the above. If the first dubree is flashing it indicate that the topic is very active.

I hope all of that makes sense, 'cos it doesn't to me.
