Just a tad more picturesque than Great Yarmouth, Alison!

Won my quarter final match today, beat a 4 handicapper who was not having a particularly good day. I played OK so it was tough for him (having to give me 13 shots). I won 6 & 5.
Roll on the semi-final!

My only round on a golf course was during a job interview - on a course with frozen water hazards.
One of the participants had only one arm and he pushed the 'handle' of the club up his sleeve and then cursed loudly when his shot was less than perfect - I learned a lot of new swear words . . .

The Ryder Cup is upon us once again.

Great afternoon viewing the whitewash in the foursomes of the USA has made me work up a thirst.

Sadly not subscribing to pay television I have not been able to see any of the Ryder Cup so far, will have to wait for the highlights later.
The good news is that apart from this event and the Open, I do not miss not having any pay TV. And I save a lot of money. :D :D :D

Me too Smeag. No pay TV, but followed Sunday match commentaries on Auntie Beeb at 0200 - local.
Ryder Cup 2018: Europe thrash US 17½-10½ to regain Ryder Cup
Magic, absolutely magic.

Must admit when I played comps regularly much preferred match play events.

Played the semi-final of my club match play competition................and lost :(( :((

Both of us started poorly but my opponent got better sooner. the better man won on the day so no complaints. Maybe try again next year.

On a better note I have been asked if I would like to be club vice-captain next year (I said Yes) which means I will be captain in 2020.

I’m no expert, but I don’t think that it’s a great start :ymdevil:
McIlroy +5 (5)
Rory McIlroy hacked out on the fifth and is on the green for two. He has around 40ft left for birdie. This has been a round laced with evil so far.

Here comes the putt, superb... an inch left for par and in it goes. Five holes down, five shots gone

One notes that El Tiger has matched Slammin' Sam's long standing record of 82 PGA tour victories, just Jack's rather more difficult record now (18 majors).

An update on my role as captain of my golf club. One word sums it up pretty well...crap!

Not the best of years to be captain. Testing year both financially and also having members moan about almost everything. Whatever the committee do there are some members who complain loudly. Still, I took the role willingly so must take the sh1t that comes with it! I have been asked if I would like to continue next year, My answer was prompt and negative!
Once again we are into a month of no golf. I suppose the complaints will start rolling in again!

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Jon Rahm is getting ready to make his fourth career start at The Masters, and his preparation at Augusta National this week has been impressive to say the least.

The Arizona State alum is playing some of the best golf in his career over the past year, which has included multiple wins on the PGA Tour and nine top-10 finishes.

Many of the players at Tuesday's practice round lined up in front of the teebox at the Par-3 16th hole and launched their golf balls into the pond, trying to skip the ball up to the green, as is tradition at Augusta prior to the tournament.

Though it didn't count, Jon Rahm may have hit one of the most impressive golf shots in history.

His ball skipped at least four times, hit the bank before the green, skipped up onto the green and took the slope all the way around and finally into the hole.

Check the video out below:

This was actually Rahm's second hole-in-one in two days at Augusta National. A day earlier, Rickie Fowler took this video of Rahm walking up to retrieve his ball on the 4th hole.

Not to jinx him or anything, but it looks like Rahm has some insane mojo going for him, at least early in the week.

The 26-year-old Spaniard has been solid at Augusta National in his previous three Masters starts. In 2017, Rahm placed 27th, then fourth in 2018 and he tied for ninth in 2019.

Rahm tees off with Bryson DeChambeau and Louis Oosthuizen on Thursday at The Masters at 5:33 a.m. Arizona time.

Hope the link works. Great video.
I didn't know about this tradition at The Masters.

My current home is built on an old 9 hole course.

The 9 hole course had 18 tee's!

There were 2 routes to each green.
