Half an hour from the end I was hopeful.
Day 4 was a bit of old fashioned fighting cricket.

Will someone kindly look into Michael Vaughan's posting history on social media to see if the sanctimonius git has any skeletons in his cupboard?
His remarks on Ollie Robinson, after some evil journo had done some digging to his history, were totally ott, on the BBC yesterday. But then again Vaughan is from Yorkshire and there is history between Robinson and that County.

Michael Vaughan is a Lancastrian.

Per Wiki
Vaughan, then living in Derbyshire, turned up as a child to watch Yorkshire playing at Sheffield. During the tea break, he was playing on the outfield with his friends when (then) Yorkshire head coach Doug Padgett spotted him, and approached him about joining the County.[15]
However, Vaughan was born in Eccles, Greater Manchester, and at the time Yorkshire had a strict policy of only picking players who were born in Yorkshire. Years later, when the rule was removed, Doug Padgett re-investigated the young player, and offered him a place at the Yorkshire academy.
The last two words of the above explain everything. One of the first cricketing Yorkshiremen not by birth.

In modern times that is.
Yorkshire's greatest captain, Lord Hawke, wasn't a native.

Living at Wighill Park since 1875 had given Hawke a residential qualification to play for the county club and, in September 1881, Carter invited him to the Scarborough Festival where he made his first-class debut for Yorkshire against Marylebone Cricket Club.

Now the blaizer clad loonies who run the sport in England have suspended Robinson, whilst they conduct a kangeroo court.
It is not helped by Joe Root joining in making adverse comments about has past.
Utter disgrace.

Careful!
This also means that you agree with Boris.
A good last hour at Headingley yesterday, wasn't it? More entertaining than Lords.

A can of worms has been opened.
It's akin to the nonsense with aledged slave traders, statues, rewriting history et al.
What may have occured over ten years ago and before all the present "Black Lives Matter" campaigne kicked off, should be judges as at that date and not as if it occured in the present "cleansed" times.

Unless someone continues to spout forth unacceptable stuff, stuff from the past should not be judged against modern standards. Once it was acceptable to own slaves. Once it was acceptable to drink and drive. Once it was acceptable to do all sorts of things, and people did them. Over time attitudes have changed, so what was acceptable and legal back then should be left back then if people have demonstrably changed (or are dead).

Time to uproot Root from his position as captain and as a member of the England team.
The player selection is partly down to him as well.
A triple fail.
In fact, after his latest attempt at being a batsman has ended in abject failure just a few moments ago, someone at the ECB should have the guts to dismiss him tonight.
They should also get rid of the coach.
Any form of coach could do better, even a Volvo or Scania.

He should never have been made captain.
He had so little experience before he was given the job.
But the modern system where players come through the England age groups rather than the County Championship is questionable in my opinion.
